From the author of Bowling Alone, this could be seen as the follow up. What has happened to social mobility in this country and why. And he has some ideas on what to do about it. This is an important book for anyone who is concerned by the growing divides in wealth, income, and opportunity in America.

yes, it can be dense in parts, but there is a good reason why the Guardian called this one of the 100 best non-fiction books of all time: it is a story of our planet's history and our place in it. it is a critical history that you probably never learned, and there's no discussion of this in the public sphere. there should be.
