Command Line Kung Fu is packed with dozens of tips and over 100 practical real-world examples. You won't find theoretical examples in this book. The examples demonstrate how to solve actual problems and accomplish worthwhile goals. The tactics are easy to find, too. Each chapter covers a specific topic and groups related tips and examples together.

I've learned a great deal from this authors books. If I don't understand the mechanics of a subject I give up easily but the book goes into depth and gives realistic examples which keeps my simple brain entertained. I made a simple virus/malware detection kit with grep and a filter list. Get this and Linux for beginners and listen to that first.
