After a centuries' long apocalypse, humanity has returned to its violent roots. The few ragged settlements that remain fight each other for what little the Nothing provides and will do whatever it takes to stay alive. Charlize Smith doesn't know it yet, but her hometown might be the last civilized place on Earth. Born a Defect and forced to undergo a slew of dangerous experiments, Charlie dreams of the day when she can finally set out on her own. But when a tragedy pushes her to the edge, she's arrested and thrown onto a truck bound for the Nothing - where she's probably going to die.

The author filled the 15 hours of this book with very very detailed descriptions of gore and torture. I mean paragraphs of it. He created a world of hardly any likeable inhabitants (really... only one or two actually likable characters. The rest suck.) Top it off with hardly any real story to speak of and for me this was yet another bad purchase. I hate to do it since this will be the second return on this same credit this month (I'm on a roll of getting fooled by reviews and descriptions). I apologies to Audible for this but I will never want to listen to this title again. I have to return it.

Mara is having the worst month of her life. At least, that's what her cards tell her and they've never been wrong. She's evicted from her apartment, loses her job, and is banned from Beverly Hills. So when the tarot cards predict her imminent demise, she uses a little magic to make her world right. Suddenly, an aunt she's never met dies, leaving Mara as her sole heir. But when Mara moves into her inherited home, she discovers Aunt Tillie never moved out. She's still one pissed-off old lady, even postmortem.

I made it to 1 hour and 52 minutes and gave up. Too serious into the witch craft thing for me. A couple of very gross and disturbing dreams and then a discussion of human bone art and I was done. Some reviews said aunt Tillie is funny, but I just couldn't get that far. It was only $5 so I gave it a try. I'll just write it off to bad luck. If I had given a credit for it, I would be returning it.

She's not sure she believes that theory, but will try anything to make a real friend. A casual fling would also be nice, but she's not holding her breath. Rosa Salazar hopes camp will be an escape from a life permanently altered. Alice and Rosa soon discover that at Camp Rewind, anything is possible. Even an unlikely friendship that swiftly becomes something more.

The two women come off like teenagers, part of which was probably the narrator's voice. One's back story is just not believable (to me at least). A lot of sappy 'no your stronger than me, oh no your so much stronger than me; bla bla. The 'camp' is more like a sex camp for delinquent adults. The usual stereotyped bad people that seems to always show up in this genre rounds out a very forgettable listen. There is just not much of a story here. O'Brien has written better. I need my credit back.

Boring is the only word to describe the four and a half hours that I managed to get through before giving up on this book. It reads like an instructional for newbies getting into Spells and Swords RPG games. There was nothing entertaining or amusing about it for me. I have deleted it from my computer and will have to ask for my credit back.

What happens when an accountant decides to grab life by the horns and try something new? Apparently a pirate named Dave, a lot of pastel fleece, and blackmail - just to start with. Visualize and succeed, Oprah said. I was sure as hell trying, even if my campaign to score a job as the local weather girl had ended in a restraining order. Okay, TV was not my strength. But a lack of talent has never stopped me before. Which is why I've embarked on a writing career. I mean, how hard can it be to come up with a sexy romance?

I stopped listening after 2 hours, but picked it up the next day and stayed with it to see if it got better. (My kind of better not others I suppose.) Don't get me wrong, it's not bad as in 'yuck'. For whatever reason, the characters and the story just irritated me too often. It just didn't float my boat. It is not a title I will want to pick up and listen to again, and that is important to me.

Some things changed in those two and it shows up in book 6, leaving me wondering what went on. Come on Audible, give us 4 and 5 and then the rest. Please. Thank you.
