I really wanted to love this book, since I absolutely love JKR and the HP series. Sadly, I was disappointed. I felt that it was lacking in character development and in action. Throughout the book, I found myself looking at the audiobook player to see how much longer I had to go. For me, it was a struggle to finish. I felt very little attachment to the characters and just wanted to find out whodunnit and move on. #mystery #whodunnit #meh #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

The following winter, her dismembered remains were found buried in a seaside cave. The seven months in between had seen a massive search for the missing girl involving Japanese policemen, British private detectives, and Lucie’s desperate but bitterly divided parents. I love true crime, and I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts. This book was overly detailed and it captured more facts than experience. It was interesting to read and I'm glad that I now know the story, but I could've watched an hour-long tv episode of the case and been satisfied. #truecrime #lostintheweeds #trueevil #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

I force myself to look at the face in the photo, into her slightly smudged features, and I can't bring myself to move. Olivia Shaw could be my mirror image, rewound to 13 years ago. I've spent a long time peering into the faces of girls on missing posters, wondering which one replaced me in that basement. But they were never quite the right age, with the right look, in the right circumstances. Until Olivia Shaw, missing for one week tomorrow.

It's 1934. Businesses went under by the hundreds, debt and foreclosures boomed, and breadlines grew in many American cities. In the midst of this misery, some folks explored unscrupulous ways to make money. Angel-faced John Partlow and carnival huckster Ginger LaFrance are among the worst of this lot. Joining together they leave their small-time confidence scams behind to attempt an elaborate kidnapping-for-ransom scheme in New Orleans.

Finding me by Michelle Knight is both terrifying and tragic, and delivered with a dash of hope. The author reads her own memoir, which in some ways adds to it, but in others detracts (as is often the case when authors read their own work). The book is definitely worth the listen if you're interested in hearing about the horrors of true crime. I have not yet listened to the book by the other two who were kidnapped. #horror #truecrime #readbyauthor #memoir #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

I am a proud potterhead! back when the books were originally released, I read the first 3 in print and then discovered the audiobooks, and I've never gone back to reading with the voice in my head... Jim Dale can't be beat. His narration is brilliant. I've listened to the entire series several times. I have the whole series on CDs and am re-purchasing through audible so that I can have easy access on my phone at anytime. Harry Potter has it all - adventure, wisdom, strong character development and brilliant writing. Each book both stands alone and holds an important place in the overall story arch of the series. #potterhead #ravenclaw #adventure #fantasy #truth #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

I adored Amy Poehler before reading this book, and after listening to it, I think she's a goddess. I've read/listened to several celebrity memoirs, and this one is my favorite. I bought it on CD, and then gifted it to a friend after I listened to it. So, I recently re-purchased it on audible and am re-listening to it now. She's funny, honest and insightful. It's like she's my best friend AND my therapist. Read this, you won't regret it (and, the audio version is a MUST, since she reads it and has several guests as well). #brilliant #inspiring #witty #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

I was honestly disappointed in this book. I found it mildly entertaining; I grinned a few times but never laughed out loud. It's only a couple of hours long, but I wasn't sad when it was over. I was glad to be able to move on to another book. Of course I adore Betty White, so I was really hoping for more. I'm glad that I learned some more about her life, especially the animal activism parts, but there just wasn't anything particularly engaging in the book. I know that I'm in the minority here, but I expected much more from this cultural gem. #memoir #readbyauthor #charming #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

I loved this book more than I imagined that I would! It's super fun to go behind the scenes of this iconic film. Cary Elwes is humorous, humble and has a great perspective to share. Among many things, I gained an immense appreciation for Rob Reiner, as well as for Andre the Giant. I devoured the book in about 48 hours, walking around grinning and giggling with my earbuds in. It was a treat to hear from others who were involved in the film as well (often in their own voices). Overall, a great delight. I will definitely re-listen to it someday.
