When Vanessa Williams was growing up, she had a plan: She'd go to college and major in musical theater; afterward she'd get her MFA from the Yale School of Drama, and then she would embark on a successful career on Broadway. But her life took a detour and she wound up the first black Miss America in September 1983 (an accomplishment that she never planned for or desired), only to be forced to resign ten months later due to a nude photo scandal - much to the shock of her mother, Helen, who had told her, "never pose nude for anyone."

At some point in every person's life, we will need a miracle from God. It may be for us, a family member, or a troubled child. It might be a mountain of family or financial trouble, or some unseen force that fills us with fear. The late John Osteen has good news for us. We can have a miracle from God, for God is a miracle worker. And He has recorded many of His miracles in His Word, the Bible. Rather than running around searching for needed miracles, Osteen shows us how to put the power of God's Word into daily practice.

Have you ever been in "the zone" but not known how you got there? Have you ever been out of "the zone" and wondered how to get back in it? Have you ever wondered where this somewhat mythical "zone" actually was? Well, this book is a map of how to find your way around it and how to stay in it. First it explores the "doing zones", where we are superbly creative and at the top of our game. Next, it takes a diversion to those places we end up where things don't go so well - they are the "danger zones".

This Zone book by Tom Evans captivates you, makes you realize positive, negative, dreamy are zones we activate regularly. To engage the positive and healthy over something unhealthy is so promising. By helping ourselves find ourselves we benefit our own being and those around us in a positive manner. I'm optimistic in life changes and happenings and a hope for today and bright tomorrow. The key to having a positive, happy, faith-filled day is to start each morning setting your mind in the right direction. It's easy to lie in bed thinking, "I don't feel like going to work. I don't want to deal with these children. I didn't exercise yesterday." We don't realize it, but that's setting the tone for a lousy day. If you don't intentionally set the tone for the day, negative thoughts will set it for you.

Josh Hamilton was the first player chosen in the first round of the 1999 baseball draft. He was destined to be one of those rare "high-character" superstars. But in 2001, working his way from the minors to the majors, all of the plans for Josh went off the rails in a moment of weakness. What followed was a four-year nightmare of drugs and alcohol, estrangement from friends and family, and his eventual suspension from baseball.

A story of talent, natural gift for baseball, humility, a signing to a minor league, wrong influences, a downward spiral, drugs. Then his grandma's influence, coming clean, faith, God, to a pro baseball athlete for Texas rangers, all within four years, at 24. Josh is a real human witness to the Christian walk, with a wife and family currently. He choose a more difficult route to succeed and overcome all the odds, be content with this gift of baseball, and witness in Jesus name ultimately. What a come back, what a testimony, what an example for all of us to follow in our daily lives. #pursueyourdream #JoshHamilton
