It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Then the shooters arrived. The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But for those who lived through it, the effects would last forever. But one person wasn't satisfied with the shockingly high death toll at the DownEast Mall. And as the survivors slowly heal, find shelter, and rebuild, they will discover that another conspirator is lying in wait - and this time, there might be nowhere safe to hide.

There are so many horrible things that happen In this day and age. This book deals with one of them. Mass shooting. So if anyone is sensitive to this subject, you may want to avoid. For myself, this book gripped me from the very beginning. The story is very well written and narrated. The story of Simone and Reid is excellent. I've listened to many Nora Roberts books and this rates in the top 3 of her stand alone books. The weaving of the story from a tramatic event to growing up and going on shows that even if you never forget, you can still move forward and have a good life.

I tried to finish this book but couldn't. That anyone would allow a 5 year old to behave that way is unimaginable. That a school would not report a 5 year old having a nose stud and wearing gaudy makeup is also pushing belief. I get that there are people who are not good parents ,but really? Wouldn't recommend.

Although I did enjoy this book very much, I was highly annoyed that the male character( who left town as soon as possible, even though he supposedly loved the female) was constantly angry that she didn't tell him about "his" daughter in 19 years. Even though she had tried to call him several times, left her number and was told he was on a date. He never bothered calling her or contacting her at all in those same 19 years. Sorry, but that story line doesn't hold water with me. He had
no right to be angry. But I like this whole series. And in the end I still liked him.

This book was difficult to listen to as I unfortunately have experience dealing with some of the situations in my life. I won't give anything away but the story keeps you listening in hopes that what seems like the only answer to a crime, isn't really the answer. I understand that there is at least 4 books in this series and I will be getting all of them. This is not a happy , cheerful book but the author's empathy for children with problems that not everyone understands are still human beings and deserve to be treated as such.

I was hoping this was as good as the first two but I really didn't care for it. The story line and writing style seemed a little juvenile. Although I have read another book with a "living " house, this one doesn't hit the mark. The characters lacked depth and in general were not people that I could empathize with.

A little over thirty thousand acres and home to four generations, it's kept running by Bodine Longbow with the help of a large staff, including new hire Callen Skinner. There was another member of the family once: Bodine's aunt, Alice, who ran off before Bodine was born. She never returned, and the Longbows don't talk about her much. The younger ones, who never met her, quietly presume she's dead.

Although I wasn't sure at first if I was going to like it, this book turned out to be one of my favorites by Nora Roberts. There were times in the story when it broke my heart. Alice was braver and more resilient than many people would have been in that situation. The support of her family and community was amazing. There are many strong characters in this book to help keep the plot strong. I will definitely be listening to this book again.

I previously reviewed this book, but it has been done with a different narrator and that is all to the good. I enjoy all Nora Roberts books and will relisten to this series with the new narrator. The last couple who read these books were awful. I periodically go back to books that I had a hard time enjoying because the narrators were not a good match to see if they've been updated. Thankfully, this series has been and I will try again.

Who would have guessed that helping a gentle old man would land her in the middle of an attempted murder - her own?

Although I got this book as a gift from the author, I had this in ebook form for quite awhile. I have so enjoyed this as well as a tie in series that I will get the rest of the books as they become available. This series is about 4 trouble making teens who have all grown up to be excellent men. Nothing shabby about that!! The 4th brother is the beginning of the Eternity Springs series , also well worth all the credits as these are enjoyable enough to listen to over and over. I have enjoyed this author since I first started reading her work.

This review is from: Montana Rescue (The Wildes of Birch Bay Book 2)

I always enjoy reading or listening to stories of people who grow into the lives they are meant to live. Harper is stuck in her life after losing the love of her life. She has to learn that it's okay to move on and continue living and being happy. It doesn't lessen what she had with her husband, it gives her another chance at love. Nick and his siblings are dealing with the damage of having a mother with mental issues while they were young. He has always wanted Harper and must work to make her see that she can be happy while he comes to grips with understanding that he is a good person, regardless of his mother's manipulation. I enjoyed to first book in this series and can't wait to hear the rest of the stories. I received a advance copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my unbiased review.free, . That being said, I liked this well enough to also buy the audiobook.
