In the chaotic aftermath of World War II, American college girl Charlie St. Clair is pregnant, unmarried, and on the verge of being thrown out of her very proper family. She's also nursing a desperate hope that her beloved cousin Rose, who disappeared in Nazi-occupied France during the war, might still be alive.

I really enjoyed the narrator, she did the accents well that captured helpful nuances. As with so many audiobooks, the narration can make or break the book. This one made it. I loved the storyline and the twists and turns, the only thing I was left wanting more of was a better look into the details of the spy work. I felt it was secondary to the overarching story and could have been elaborated on with more insight. Still very good and I would definitely recommend.

In the summer of 2006, Emma Price watched helplessly as her six-year-old son's red coat was fished out of the River Ouse. It was the tragic story of the year - a little boy, Aiden, wandered away from school during a terrible flood, fell into the river, and drowned. His body was never recovered. Ten years later Emma has finally rediscovered the joy in life...until Aiden returns.

If you could sum up Silent Child in three words, what would they be?

Emotionally engaging thriller

What did you like best about this story?

The narration really made this book stand out as an enjoyable experience more than just "reading" a book but experiencing the story.

What about Joanne Froggatt’s performance did you like?

Everything!! I love her voice and her acting skills really show in how she is able to make it come to life. I hope she will narrate more in the future, I plan to listen to more of her current titles simply because she is the narrator

"Marley was dead to begin with...." These chillingly familiar words begin the classic Christmas tale of remorse and redemption in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Now R. William Bennett rewinds the story and focuses the spotlight on Scrooge’s miserly business partner, Jacob T. Marley, who was allowed to return as a ghost to warn Scrooge away from his ill-fated path. Why was Marley allowed to return? And why hadn’t he been given the same chance as Ebenezer Scrooge? Or had he?

It's a Wonderful expansion to the fantastic Christmas Carol. A shift in perspective that we could all do well to remember anytime of year but it's especially a treasure to remember this time of year. I would highly recommend it, you won't regret it.
