Ce'Nedra, Imperial Princess of Tolnedra, is confused. Everyone knows the tales of the Orb protecting the West from the evil god Torak are just silly legends. But here she is, forced to join a quest to recover that stolen Orb. No one believes in sorcery, but Garion's aunt and grandfather seem to be the fabled sorcerers Polgara and Belgarath. Even young Garion is learning to do sorcery. He's just a farm boy, totally unsuitable for an Imperial Princess. Yet for some reason, she has the urge to comfort him.

This story is one of my favorites from childhood. I love the characters. They are old friends and companions, with whom I have quested. The narrator makes a valiant attempt to convey the numerous and varied accents but often in his attempts, the accents drop, meld, or they obscure the words of the story, creating moments of dissonance and confusion that throw the listener out of the tale. Perhaps in the case of so many players, it is best practices to add a cast member or to avoid accents altogether and focus on tone and pitch to convey the different voices. It is still worth the listen.

Welcome to the Orthodox Church - its history, theology, worship, spirituality, and daily life. This friendly guide provides a comprehensive introduction to Orthodoxy, but with a twist: listeners learn by making a series of visits to a fictitious church, and get to know the faith as new Christians did for most of history, by immersion. Mathews-Green provides commentary and explanations on everything from how to "venerate" an icon, the Orthodox understanding of the atonement, to the Lenten significance of tofu.

Incredibly well-written and informative, this book is not just for those who have never heard of the church before, it is also a great refresher for those already in the church
