Ani has been my travelling companion in life for over 20 years. I so loved the opportunity to sit down and almost feel like I'm having coffee and deep conversation with a good friend. It was lovely to know her mind better in her own voice.

This book made me feel things. As a queer person in my late 30s I was too young to experience any of the AIDS crisis first hand. It is powerful to think about what life was day to day and how people survived. The secondary storyline in the present day was also very engaging. overall its emotional but not cloying with great characters that you'll care about and a satisfying ending.

I loved the way this was structured - excellent storytelling. I always enjoy following the threads of several characters individually to later uncover the bigger picture of how they're woven together. Very emotional but not pandering. even better that it's TRUE. if you like historical fiction and elic family stories spread put over generations this is for you.

I loved the idea of learning more of the truth behind Merlin and King Arthur and was completely enthralled by the narrators voice and the magic of Scotland's history. Great storyline - loved the characters and how well the Old Ways are represented. Can't wait for more.

Loved everything about this festive little book! Nice to have something to listen to in the weeks leading up to Xmas to remind us to dig deeper. Personal stories and recipes were excellent palate cleansers between chapters and as a long time fan of Winterson, a nice slice of her personality served up without the frosting of her (albeit delicious) prose. If you want something "holiday" that isn't just shinny wrapping and sweetness this is for you.

Action packed, lovely as always. I have read through the series several times over but listening to them just adds another layer of dimension. The narrator is fantastic - if you haven't listened to them all - do!
