The book started out well and the performance was good. I have issues when books start to get unreal & unbelievable. The end was so full of drama and unconvincing story that I had a hard time listening to the whole thing. I would have returned it, but the beginng was good enough to keep me from being a jerk.

From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

What would have made Fear the Sky better?

not using the word proverbial so much. Having stronger characters, and less explaining over and over.

Would you be willing to try another one of R.C. Bray’s performances?

yes.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

It was interesting. I just couldn't get past the writing.

Any additional comments?

I almost want to read more. Almost.

Most people know this book from the Academy Award-winning motion picture starring Winona Ryder. Now, introduce them to the sparkling American classic behind the movie: a charming portrait of the joys and hardships of the four sisters in Civil War New England. Separated by the war from their beloved parents, these "little women" struggle to find their place in the world.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....
