annoying pretend-male voice

I think I would have enjoyed this more if it wasn't for the female narrator reading the lines uttered by a male with an exaggerated masculine voice..was a little annoying.

Hurt one too many times in the past, Sloan Fairchild is convinced that she will never be able to trust her heart to a man again. Instead, she pours all her energy into making a success of her elegant San Francisco bed and breakfast inn. But when her best friend asks her to house her fiance; for a month, Sloan opens the doors of Fairchild House to Carter Madison...and meets a man who turns her world - and her concept of herself - upside down. Carter, a best selling author, is looking for a little peace and quiet so he can finish his latest novel before his wedding. The last thing he expects is to find himself instantly attracted to his hostess - or her to him. As the days pass, Sloan tries to ignore the feelings this handsome, disturbingly perceptive man stirs in her...tries to stop herself from dreaming dreams that can never be. But as Carter reveals his overwhelming desire for her, Sloan is left to struggle against her own deepest longing: to know just once how it feels to be truly cherished. Caught between love and loyalty to her best friend, Sloan must search her soul and make a choice: to love for the moment, to walk away forever, or to fight to have it all.

  • Great Story, very very bad audio quality.

Quality not the best ..but still enjoyed the story

Quite enjoyed this one, pleasant narration & easy to listen to..although the quality at times made it almost difficult to listen to.What I really liked about this one too was the natural manner in which it was narrated..ie the female narrator doesn't attempt to sound masculine when reading the male lines..!

Again, this is a hit with our 2 boys. We've resorted to putting this on very low at bedtime when we've run out of time to read a story before bed..! They love this so much, they've listened to it several times already. I've started scouring for other great classics for when they tire of listening to this one..lol.

This is a novel way to keep the kids entertained,a welcome change from the telly/dvds.
This has entertained my 4 and 8 yr old who are both Spongebob fans. Have spied them listening intently with heavy giggling interspersed here & there. A fantastic idea, thanks Audible!

This was my first experience of an audio novel and I really enjoyed it.
It's a very light-hearted story that was very well narrated...Have to admit I was a bit wary of the male voice being narrated by a woman but she doesn't over-do it- Worth a read :)
