A disastrous office affair has left Channing Hughes unemployed and (very bloody) cynical. What better time to leave Boston for her native England, where her late grandfather has named her sole heir of the Hughes fortune, along with the centuries-old manor house that’s been in the family for generations. Only one problem with that plan - there is no Hughes fortune. If anyone deserves to be cynical about life, it’s Dr. Lark Latimer. She overcame a dysfunctional upbringing in East Boston only to lose both her college sweetheart and a promising medical career when her Ma fell critically ill.

I loved A Proper Cuppa Tea by KG MacGregor. The story is so fun, yet complex, and full of the problems of everyday life. Loved the characters. C. C. Sinclair does an excellent job with the narration. We will see these characters again? Maybe follow up with the future children playing in the garden.

Attorneys Landon Holt and Carly Pachett want the exact same thing: the only open partnership spot at their prestigious criminal defense firm. When Landon and Carly are forced to collaborate on the defense of one of the firm’s A-list celebrity clients in a high-profile murder case, there’s no question the assignment is a test to see which one of them will get the promotion. Fierce determination to stand out fuels the already heated rivalry between them, but all those late nights working on legal strategy also fan the flames of attraction. When it comes to the verdict, will they compromise their careers for love?

Bryce and her coworker, Reggie Ballard, need to find a wholly original whisky for their international distribution division by visiting a number of small distillers. A blind curve, a dangling sign, and a weed-choked driveway draw Bryce directly into a truly unique opportunity. She discovers a struggling family, a shuttered distillery, and a spitfire of a daughter called home to care for her confused father. Fiona McDougall, the only child and heir to the MacDougall & Son legacy, had her career teaching in Edinburgh curtailed by fate...or serendipity.

I loved Beowulf for Cretins by Ann McMan. The book starts with the "well, I'll never see her again. So lets have a one night stand" premise .And continues way up from there. I love Grace and Abbie. Two educated, mature women working it out. Love It. I love that Ann McMan is still trying to educate us all a bit. From wine selection to music selection to quoting obscure literature. So enjoyable. Will we see more of Grace and Abbie? Excellent narration by Christine Williams.
