So glad I ignored the reviews on this one. The narrator was ok. I don't mind vanilla narration. The story was long but an enjoyable listen with a happy ending. I love stories with strong family dynamics.

This booked evoked some deep emotions. at times it was hard to get through because of the brutality. I hang in there because it was Catherine Anderson at her best. I will never forget the rescuing of Miranda from a well filled with snakes. There are some other scenes that evokes strong emotions. The narration was great and I highly recommend.

Both characters were very likable and the narrations was flawless. I am definitely interested in the rest of the series. .

This book ends on a cliff hanger. I have not listened to too much civil war novels. I usually can't bear battle scenes so initially I was a bit wary but I took the plunge. Clara Dalton, her mother and sister lives on a farm trying to make ends meet. They are having a rough time of it. Clara has taken up the most of the responsibility of running the farm. Her bother left for war and promised her the he would come back but at the start of the story he has not yet returned.

Jasper Perry is a confederate soldier who has vowed to help a fellow comrade Horace who is badly injured return to his family. He owes Horace for savings his life. He journeys though the woods with a very sick Horace. Both are starving and barely alive when he comes in contact with Clara's sister. He and Clara forms a deep connection. Their worlds come together and it is a beautiful love story. The author draws you in and brilliantly tells a story of love and heartbreak with the backdrop of civil war and two people from different sides with strong personal convictions.

I have found myself a new narrator to love! Ian Gordon is one of those narrators with a smooth, silky voice. His does different voices that are pleasant and consistent. I will be disappointed if he does not narrate the future books in this series.

I am desperate for more! I hope the book two comes out soon and it will be credit worthy to me.

This is not one of my ordinary listens but I thought I would do it in exchange for a fair review. The older I get I feel like I want more out of my ever busy life. The concept of minimalism is not new to me and I have made attempts at de-cluttering my world. Listening to this audio book has empowered me to take action. I am in the process of writing the letter to my stuff. I loved that that she has identified perils and setbacks that will happen along the way and provided strategies into how to overcome them and live a minimalistic lifestyle.

I have followed her recommendation and joined a few Facebook groups related to minimalism as she recommended.

I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to declutter. I am empowered to structure my life to live with only what I need.

This book is a quick listen that teaches you about the lean process and more. I got some good ideas on how to apply the lean philosophy in my personal life.

The book provided good introduction on the Lean process and what drives this business model that originated at Toyota. The download guide mentioned was provided by Audible so it was very helpful to reference the different diagrams while listening.

I learned that the Lean philosophy can be utilized outside of manufacturing which was surprising to me as I only heard about lean and Six Sigma when I worked for a manufacturing company. After hearing the presentation I could see why it could be applicable to any organization. The 3 M’s (Muda, Mura and Muri) were discussed in jargon that was easy to understand. My big take away was the concepts presented in the elimination of waste (muda). Other take always that I got was the need for constant innovation and effecting positive change.

The narrator has a strong British accent and reads a little fast but I think it was suitable for a business book.

Fabulous Action Pack Thriller

Firstly you should now that this book ends on a cliff hanger of sort. The romantic liaison between the two main characters remains unresolved. This book is outside of the genre I usually listen and I feel like I need to expand my horizons. I was originally interested because I am a Belizean American and it mentioned it was partially set in my beloved Belize. What an exciting story. I stayed up an extra 3 hours to listen to listen. This was a good one. It is very engaging and action packed to the very end.

The protagonist Amanda has had a very difficult life but he got herself through college and had a good job at a bank. At the start of the story, we see that she has been found not guilty of all the charges related to her embezzlement charges brought on by the Federal Government. She soon finds that she is 'radioactive' material in the financial business and is having trouble finding a job. You can't help but love her because is smart, witty and ‘rainman’ good with numbers. She has a lot of spunk and character. She has in her possession all the computer files for her defense so she set out to find out who framed her. We get to come along for the ride. It is a thrilling journey with many twist and turns that leave you stunned as gasping for more.

The narrator Teri Schnaubelt was fabulous. She does fantastic voices and you are able to forget about her and enjoy the story. She made it an easy listen. There are mentions of banks, money and financial activities. This is normally not my cup of tea but it did not bother me too much in this story.

Now for the bad news. I know this is a work of fiction and the author has a right to traverse the truth. Belize is an English speaking country. Why all the Spanish speaking characters with Spanish sounding names? They would definitely speak English at the bank and the airport. There were mentions of four lane highways and merging into traffic. I had a good laugh at those scenes. At one point Miranda was in an alley with really tall building. Seriously, this does not fit the persona of Belize City. The most irritating of all was to have her eat a tamales that was in a husk. I can't guarantee it but most Belizean tamales will be in a plantain leaf or just plain foil paper. A flight from San Pedro to Miami? So as a native Belizean, the scenes and description didn’t feel authentic.

The writing in general was superb! This is credit worthy and a very good listen.
