Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant. While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia.

I have so many problems with this book that O don't even know where to begin. the couple started kissing waaay faster than normal. the feminism of this book is questionable. they keep talking about the kids but they aren't in any scenes in the first 1/4 of the novel.

Thriller scribe Sophie Katz is as hard-boiled as a woman who drinks Grande Caramel Brownie Frappuccionos can be. So Sophie knows it's not paranoia, or post-divorce, living-alone-again jitters, when she becomes convinced that a crazed reader is sneaking into her apartment to reenact scenes from her books. The police, however, can't tell a good plot from an unmarked grave.

although it's a bit slow starting and at first, rather confusing, it gets amazing after the 26 minute mark! I did not guess who did it and it was a surprise. totally worth it!
I really enjoyed it. It is rare to see such an amazingly powerful depiction of a non-white, female main character. Best book I've ever read!

Baltimore Homicide Detective J. D. Fitzpatrick has seen a lot of horrific violence, both as a cop and during his deployment in Afghanistan, but nothing like the trail of tortured bodies that are turning up throughout the city. He’s up against a brutal killer with a very personal vendetta, and now J. D. is beginning to suspect that his medical examiner may be shielding some crucial evidence linked to the case.

Piper doesn't think they're a likely match - particularly not after she meets the reclusive tycoon while trespassing in his garden.

Really empowering, really awesome characters. Loved the small town setting. My only issue is that they decided to move in together a little too fast in the end. Other than that, it was a great book.

I only managed to put up with this book for 26 minutes and it was torture. The narration had a weird echo/stereo sound (no, it was not my headphones, I tried all 5 of mine and one speaker), the narrator can't make different voices, and does not speak with emotion.
In the 26 minutes that I listened, the plot seemed to have some potential and seems interesting but sadly, there is only so much talk about God that I can put up with. I am Unitarian Universalist.

This needs to be categorized as religious romance or Christian Romance. While the characters and plot are amazing, I had to stop after 1/4 of the book because the religious stuff was too over the top. Too bad because the book seemed cool.
