At once wildly original and stuffed with irresistible nostalgia, Ready Player One is a spectacularly genre-busting, ambitious, and charming debut—part quest novel, part love story, and part virtual space opera set in a universe where spell-slinging mages battle giant Japanese robots, entire planets are inspired by Blade Runner, and flying DeLoreans achieve light speed.

Warning, This book is NOT the movie! To say it's 1000 times better than the movie would be an understatement. I think only the basic premise of the text is retained in the movie presentation. At 15+ hours, a bit less with accelerated time, I wanted it to go faster! I needed to see(hear) what happened next.
Well read by Ensign Wesley Crusher ie Wil Wheaton. He has an easy to listen to timber to his voice.
I give it 5 stars!

Samantha was badass even before she learned magic. Fending for herself in the cauldron of a planet torn apart by an alien invasion taught Samantha how to kill. Ruthlessly efficient, her abilities have caught the attention of the Shadow Corps. A group comprised of deadly warriors who focus on galactic safety, using any means necessary. Her first mission puts her team up against a space dragon, death reapers, and the ultimate sorcerer. Samantha had better learn to master her alien magic, or be forced to watch her world, and many others, burn.

Great beginning to the series. I couldn't wait to be able to listen once I got started. I highly recommend this for sci fi/ space opera fans. Will be picking up more of this series. Got a problem, the Shadow Corp will handle it!

To save the Hatter, Alice must work with the one man she despises so much that she might still love him. Alice thought she'd turned over a new leaf. No more working for Jabberwocky. No more making deals with the ruthless Queen of Hearts. No more hanging around The Mushroom with tinkers, tarts, scoundrels, and thieves in London's criminal underbelly. But she'd been bonkers to dream.

Beautiful! Wonderful! Exquisite! Well, maybe not for this offering. Dark, nefarious deeds. Blood, guts and gore in a Victorian England setting. This story is amazing in its unexpected use of the character stylizing first created by Lewis Carroll in his offering of Alice and the denizens of Wonderland.
Our author, Melanie Karsak has taken Alice to new heights, or should that be depths as she spins a truly amazing tale of young Alice Lewis as she attempts to keep on the straight and narrow and not sink into the underworld depths as the Bandersnatch. That’s just one example of where Melanie has taken her characters in this incarnation. Curiouser and Curiouser will keep the reader or listener captivated with Alice’s adventure in this steampunk fairy tale.
Our reader for the Audible version of the book is an English lady by the name of Leslie Parkin. Her pleasing voice with the lovely British accent ties this tale to England as firmly as the locality references in the story line.
I will rate this book, story and reader a hearty well done and award a full five stars for the unexpected turn of events. Indeed things are curiouser and curiouser.
