The fairy tale courtship did not turn into a happily-ever-after. Not until her husband dropped dead, that is. He had been horrible enough to Christiana during their short marriage, and she was not going to allow the traditional period of mourning to ruin her sisters' debuts as well. So she decides to put him on ice and go on as if nothing's happened.... Until the real earl appears.

After starting and stopping this story several times I finally gave up. It just bored me. I’ve listened to stories by this author and this narrator before but somehow for this book the combination did not work. I stopped when the story still had 2 hours. Wasted credit for me.

Until Aidan Lennox entered her life. Older, worldlier, a music producer and composer, the sexy Scot should never have made sense for Nora. But somehow in each other they found the light they were looking for, the laughter and the passion - the strength to play on despite their past losses.

I’m disappointed in this story. I usually love Samantha Young but this story was boring at times. It was more of a fiction story than a romance. It’s basically Nora’s life from teenager to adult, her first marriage, becoming a widow and rebuilding her life after loss.
The narrator under the name of Claire Kilpatrick is really Angela Dawe. I’ve listened to her on a paranormal series and she did good because a monotone narration was appropriate but for this story it didn’t work. Ms. Kilpatrick (Dawe) does a terrible Scottish accent (compared to previous narrators of Ms. Young books). Also, it was monotone and made the story extra boring. Not recommended for people wanting to listen to a romance book but it good be enjoyable for fiction lovers.

This book features the best narration I’ve ever heard (and I have 350 audiobooks). What makes this narration perfect is the dual point of view with distinct voices (2 narrators). The right amount of emotion and tone was added to the story. Plus it had special sound effects that took the story to the next level. You could actually hear phones ringing, alarms going off, a gun shot and little sounds like that that made the story so much more interesting and alive for the listener. I don’t understand how this is not the norm. Loved it!
The story is very interesting too and has several unexpected turns. The romance is hot and vivid. Highly recommended.

The story felt too long and it became boring. The change of heart of the hero at the end did not feel believable and there was no groveling. Even the “conflict” was not interesting enough. This story is not worth a credit.

The narration is wonderful and it’s the reason why I actually got the book. But great narration is not enough to make the story interesting.

Although I love this author and this series this book was my least favorite. It felt too long with unnecessary situations that felt like fluff to make the book longer. It was interesting to learn about OCD and that aspect felt realistic but others like the celibate hero, Beau getting a mansion as a gift from a friend and Shelly’s family being so completely clueless about her diagnostic were highly unlikely situations.

This story is barely a romance. It’s 6.5 hours of the hero being indifferent and at times mean to our heroine. The hero was simply awful for most of the story. He was unfaithful repeatedly with different women and couldn’t care less about our heroine. She in return was dutiful and caring with him. This made me so angry! I don’t understand how they actually fell in love. The last 1.5 hours a sort of mild romance developed. At the very end he finally shows true love towards the heroine. It felt too little too late. I finished the story because I wanted to know how it would end and the narrator did a very good job in this story. But I can’t recommend this story because it was too frustrating for me.

This story was different for me as I usually don’t listen to fantasy books but I found this so interesting. I like the fact that the story didn’t revolve around the romance. Several things were happening and we got a good introduction to the pack. Beautiful ending. Definitely want to listen to the next book. Great narration as well.

I felt it was very complete and many things were happening that kept my interest and kept me wondering what comes next. The narration has been a lot better than in the previous books as well. Very enjoyable.

Good historical fiction story with a romance undertone. Please be aware this story may be a trigger to some as the subject of alcoholism and domestic violence is prevalent throughout the story. It was a good continuation to the series and you get to know what happens which the other two prior couples. The narration is OK although the narrators male voices are not that good.
