It began on New Year's Eve. The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world's population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magic rose up in its place. Some of it is good, like the witchcraft worked by Lana Bingham, practicing in the loft apartment she shares with her lover, Max.

I don't normally read this author. I almost stopped the audio in the beginning because I thought it would be like many other books of this type and topic. I'm so glad I did not stop listening.

It was different than any other rendition of this type of story. It kept me engaged the whole time. I fell in love with the people, and did NOT end with a cliffhanger. I am impatiently waiting for the next book in this series!!!

I absolutely loved this book. It caught my attention from the very start and had me on the edge of my seat when it finished. I am so glad that the next one is available although I have heard that the next book is not very good. So I'm still trying to decide whether to continue with this series. This was very much worth the credit. I would recommend this audiobook. It is not sexually explicit, and it is not bloody or gory.

Vanessa Mazur knows she's doing the right thing. She shouldn't feel bad for quitting. Being an assistant/housekeeper/fairy godmother to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans, and none of them include washing extra-large underwear longer than necessary. But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door wanting her to come back, she's beyond shocked.
