Susan Elizabeth Phillips is one of my favorite authors, and I really loved this book. I usually like Anna Fields' narration, but one thing in this story bugged me. Being an Indiana native, I couldn't help being irritated by the obvious Wisconsin accent used for the Wayne couple from Ft. Wayne, Indiana. I know most people wouldn't know the difference, and it didn't detract from the story, but Hoosiers can tell. Still, don't let that keep you from enjoying this book. Another winner by SEP.

I really enjoyed this. It pulled me in from the beginning. I liked all the characters and was pulling for Sam and Natalie. Some of the details of Sam's childhood were hard to take, but they came across as realistic. Lots of action, and no sex scenes, which I found refreshing. I'm looking forward to Book 2.

This is my first Bella Andre story, and although I'd like to meet more of the Sullivan's, I'm not sure I will. I enjoyed the story lines, but, seriously, do these people do anything besides have sex? I like some romance, but felt the sex here was seriously overdone. I mean, these people couldn't all become as wealthy and famous as they all were if they spent all their time making love. It became monotonous.

It's 1998, and for years the old First Bank of Cleveland has sat abandoned, perfectly preserved, its secrets only speculated on by the outside world. Twenty years before, amid strange staff disappearances and allegations of fraud, panicked investors sold Cleveland's largest bank in the middle of the night, locking out customers and employees and thwarting a looming federal investigation. In the confusion that followed, the keys to the vault's safe-deposit boxes were lost.

Mrs. Sookie Poole of Point Clear, Alabama, has just married off the last of her daughters and is looking forward to relaxing and perhaps traveling with her husband, Earle. The only thing left to contend with is her mother, the formidable Lenore Simmons Krackenberry. Lenore may be a lot of fun for other people, but is, for the most part, an overbearing presence for her daughter. Then one day, quite by accident, Sookie discovers a secret about her mother's past that knocks her for a loop and suddenly calls into question everything she ever thought she knew about herself, her family, and her future.

Would you consider the audio edition of The All-Girl Filling Station's Last Reunion to be better than the print version?

I don't know, since I haven't read the print version. However, I purchased this after my mom recommended the print version to me. I think it was special to have the author read the story herself, though.

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed the humor.

What does Fannie Flagg bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I loved hearing the author's own inflections and expressions. I feel it added a lot to the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, too long. It didn't take me very long to finish it, though.

Any additional comments?

Great story. My first Fannie Flagg, but definitely not my last.
