Summary:

This was an incredible series about one woman’s struggle to save her people from an oppressive regime that they were not even aware of. Austin Valley seemed like the perfect place to live where everyone was happy and had everything they needed. At least on the surface. Em never understood why no one else seemed to question the rules they lived by or wondered about why every aspect of their lives were controlled except Em and a few others. For years, Em like all the other Defects were given shots to try and help them gain the special abilities of the rest of the dream travel society, but they never worked. One day after her injection she thought she heard a baby and went to help it, but instead she ran into a friend, Rogue the leaders son, who she thought died years ago. That one meeting opened up the reality of the lies and danger the Reverians and all those who lived in Austin Valley were subjected with. Thus began the struggle to save and free her people. Along the way others like Zack, Em’s friend, Nona, her younger sister, and countless others. Reverians all had different gifts given to them by the gods many of which were amazing. Em’s grandmother’s ability to speak to the dead aided them in finding out the truth about what what they were up against.

There were so many plot twists that kept the series riveting and spellbinding. The audio book came alive as the narrator brought a unique flare to each character. I was quickly drawn into the story as Em’s need to save her people over road anything else in her life. This was a compelling and incredible series.

Summary:
As this series concludes, the Ghost Squadron place everything on the line to retrieve the Tangle Thief before it is used killing all life on the Saverus home world. The team gears up with their new team member who as a Saverus has also put everything on the line to help them. It was wonderful how The AI’s, Ricky Bobby and Pip, took center stage as their unique perspectives may be exactly what the team need to pull off a win. I enjoyed Pip learned that being in control of a body was not exactly how he thought it would be allowing him to see things from a more human perspective. Experiencing the growth of the team members as they worked together supporting each as they worked to save the universe. Eddie and Julianna traveled a long way from independent loners to unique and caring individuals who together are ready for their next adventure.

This was an incredible audioseries and one that I will stay on my must listen to again list. Thinks go to Sarah Noffke and Michael Anderle for this complex and riveting series.

Summary:

The story was a rush form the very beginning. Knox is both determined to regain his memories and find the tangle thief, but scared about what happened. Add to that the return of Knox’s father making everything more complicated. I really enjoyed when Eddie and company took Knox to see a psychiatrist who was himself living in a mental facility making allowing the reader to understand that the difference between sanity may just be ones own perspective. The fight with the Saverus escalates as their determination to win at any costs shows that unlike humanity they will sacrifice their own to succeed. Add to that otter assassins who are both freaky and scary/adorable at the same time. It is wonderful to watch Julianna’s evolution from appearing cold and hard nosed to being more open to others as the series unfolds. Things may not always end the way the team wants, but their ability to adapt and support each other make them stronger than anything the Saverus may throw at them.

This audiobook was brought to life by a narrator who took the time to uniquely portray each character in the story.

Add to that Eddie’s irreverent behavior while takes the safety of every member of his crew. Now Julianna on the surface appears to be emotionless and hardhearted, but as the series continues the reader begins to see her change and grow as a person. It makes me as a reader wonder how much of those changes stem back to her evolving relationship with Eddie. He may appear carefree, but his commitment to the safety of his crew and completely their missions is crucial to him. It makes me as a reader wonder if their could be more between them as time goes by. We will have to wait and see. One of their Crew Noah is about to have his life altered as someone in his past returns changing everything for him and others on the team.

Summary:
This story began with Eddie and Julianna sent out to get crystals needed to build their ships, as usual Eddie gets them into a dangerous and funny situation fighting pirates and a large slug like creature. They end up covered with slime(yuck) that while nasty may be worth its weight in gold per Hatch, their mechanic. That is just the beginning as an old foe Castile sets his plan in motion to kill General Lance and anyone who gets in his way will die.

Eddie will remain forever irreverent, but he has taken his responsibilities as captain as seriously as General Lance knew he would. Julianna never lets on about her emotions, but they surface allowing the reader a deeper understanding into her reactions. Nox has found his home just like the other newer member of the Ghost Squadron as they fight to protect the defenseless and each other.

There is never a dull moment in the action packed audiobook that comes alive for the listener.

As Eddie and his team continue to fight for all of humanity they find out who their true enemy is Felix Castile. Castile makes his move to resupply his troups, he makes a tactile error allowing one man, Knox, from the doomed gun runners to escape. Knox inadvertently finds his way to Eddie’s team where he finds a common goal, to take down Castile.

After listening to the first two books, I thought of Eddie as a cowboy in space, but it was incredible that this story allowed the reader to see how Eddie responded to a the west when they visited the society based on the old west. Knox shows his worth when he puts his life on the line to protect the team. It is funny how Julianna has a hot/cold relationship with Eddie leaving the reader wondering if there is more to her feelings than she realizes. Eddie is determined to succeed, but the stakes a definitely higher as they continue to risk their lives on every mission. I will be waiting to see what will happen next.

Kill the bad guys. Save the Galaxy. All in a hard day’s work.
Eddie and Julianna are hell-bent on tracking down Vas and making him pay for his crimes. He’s armed and dangerous, and to make matters worse, he’s on the hunt for a devastating weapon that could bring destruction to the Federation and all its people.
Someone has to stop him.
Eddie and Julianna, along with her trusty E.I. named Pip, must seek out the expertise of specialists who can break into the enemy’s network. That’s the key to beating Vas. They’ll also need more pilots and better ships.
But as Ghost Squadron grows, so do the dangers on the fringe of Federation space. They still don’t know who is behind all the attacks - the one pulling the Brotherhood’s strings - but no matter what, they’re going to bring this faceless enemy down.

Total Score: 5/5

Summary:
They have down it again. I love the interaction between Edward (Blackbeard) and Julianna (Strongarm) as they along with their teammates to protect humans against others who would hurt or destroy them. Eddie’s irreverent almost comical behavior at first seems at odds with his superman like belief in protecting other, but the they combine into a fascinating character who leads the plot as it unfolds. Don’t forget Lars who joined the crew when he turned against the Brotherhood to help them thus making a place for himself in the crew. Not to forget PIP, an EI and the rest of the unique crew rounding out this fun sci-fi book and series.

Summary:
At first I wasn’t sure about Eddie, but when he stood up to take care of the aliens who destroyed a colony of humans I was hooked. Eddie reminds me of an old fashioned sheriff who stand up for those who need his protection doing what others are not willing to do. I enjoyed that even though he lived at the edge of human space he loved all things from Earth especially Pepsi. His very desire to save others was what lead him to General Lance Reynolds thus changing the course of his and others lives. The General was looking for a leader of a group to protect and avenge anyone who would hurt members of humanity, but needed to keep their activities hidden. Thus begins what looks to be an incredible series. I some ways Eddie reminds me of Captain Kirk from the Star Trek series only edgier. Add to that, unique aliens, a mechanic who looks almost like an octopus, enhanced humans, and two advanced artificial intelligences fighting for the right in outer space. What more could you want?

I read this in audiobook format and the reader did an incredible job giving each character a unique flare that brought them to life.

What made the experience of listening to Good Luck Charm the most enjoyable?

The narrator portrayed each character in a unique way bringing them to life.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Good Luck Charm?

I conflicts the Kerri caused with her belief in good luck charms as she dragged Connor in was hysterical. Connor's confusion with the situation was funny, but his willingness to help Kerri in spite of it was wonderful.

Which scene was your favorite?

Kerri's demanding Connor to give back her father's sweatshirt when he had no idea what was going on was very funny.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed through the numerous amusing and convoluted situations.

Any additional comments?

The narrator did a wonderful job in this story.

What did you love best about China?

The many unique and seemingly random situations over the world that were brought together in a way that I never expected

What does Doug Greene bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

While I enjoyed the reading very much there were a few issues with the reader not pronouncing medical terms correctly. Most people would not notice it, but as a nurse that is something that should be looked into before a story is made into an audiobook.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Angelique's refusal to give up in spite of the odds. Her desire to find justice for all who had lost their lives was commendable.
