Tiresome Homophobia Ruins The Story

The series started off quite inventive but has since dived into a rut of endless similar jokes and situations over and over again.

In the future, Craig Alanson can envision a multi-cultural world with strong independent women but strangely, no LGBT people (perhaps we’ve all been cured). And in this world, every conversation between two men seems to end with “I love you man, but you know, not like that, cause I’m no homo.”

While I made it through this book and enjoyed some parts of it, it lacks the great characters and plot twists I normally associate with Grisham.

At times listening this book, I found it hard to get into the story which felt a little bit simplistic and uncomplicated. However, I came to really like the characters and care about them and so despite the lack of complexity or sophistication in the plot I still enjoyed listening to this work.

A nice concept with lots of potentially funny moments and snappy writing that somehow just didn't quite add up to a genuinely funny story.

This series ceased being great several books ago. Not quite sure why I bothered. This final book was most tedious of them all.

A great story of the search for justice and the ugly truth about power and those who cling to it.
