Powerful and, at the end, difficult to put down. A series worth reading from book 1 to book 8 with characters that have become so familiar they seem as if the reader has known them personally. Thank you Peter Grainger for the creation of a remarkable series and to Gildart Jackson for an outstanding narration.

Intriguing, educational and entertaining! And now on to book five in the series. I’m hoping there will be a book six before too long.

An outstanding, generous and intimate look into the lives of remarkable people — not just the former president and First Lady, but the people who helped shape them. A remarkable book with unexpected insights.

Stephen Fry is outstanding as the narrator — it’s a tour de force in every sense of the phrase. I also appreciated the manner in which Fry prefaced each grouping of stories, providing an historical reference. All in all a delightful tribute to this enduring literary pair — Holmes and Watson.

... for inviting us into your mother’s home and letting us join you at her kitchen table; for letting us wander to the creek, admire the vegetable garden and sit on the porch, listening to tall tales; but more particularly, for introducing me to the food and the people of the Alabama/Georgia hills. It has been a pleasure and an honor.
