Lucy Stone has become the most annoying person on the planet. Her son and his family came from Alaska to spend time with the family at Christmas. Exciting? No, Lucy is mostly concerned that their dog is a pit bull and the child is getting empty calories and watching tv. I see why they moved to Alaska. A person Lucy barely knows is murdered. She spends the next few days before Christmas working n extra job to find the killer. She goes to the funeral home for the “fellowship and gossip and food afterward.” When the daughter in laws mother says EXACTLY the same things Lucy has said, she is offended. The last book was so political I knew I should have stopped there.
Lee Hollis and Barbara Ross saves the day for Leslie Meier! I’m so glad there was some good and interesting after I slogged through another Lucy Stone book. I’ve read every Lee Hollis book and will start now with Barbara Ross. Good bye to Leslie Meier.

Where do I begin? This masterpiece has taken the place of Clay’s Quilt and Cold Sassy Tree as my favorite. I’ve recommended it several times and everybody else loved it too. It’s heartwarming and sad and funny and fantastic. I don’t have the vocabulary to adequately describe...
good narration, fabulous story. I felt like I’d lost my only friends when it was over. Incredible.

My 14 year old son and I listened to this book together. We both LOVED it. Perry and Jessica are a typical mother and son team except for one major difference...
The characters are well formed and easy to like. The story kept us wondering what would happen next. My son immediately started it over as soon as it ended! We loved Perry and his entire support staff! Unique story line with a traditional love between mother and son. #families # relationships #feelgood #sweepstakes #tagsgiving

What made the experience of listening to Y is for Yesterday the most enjoyable?

The narrator IS Kinsey Milhone to me. She's fabulous. I feel the characters are family now.

What does Judy Kaye bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She's the best. I'd buy whatever she read!

Where does Carrots rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The story is unique and interesting but the reading is terrible.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Wendy Tremont King?

Lorelei King is the best. Jonathan Todd Ross is fantastic, too.

Any additional comments?

I took a leap of faith and moved on to the 2nd book. The narrator is better and it improves the story! If you can stand to listen to her the first book it's worth it.

What disappointed you about Mother's Day Murder?

The author is clearly a liberal with a grudge against conservatives. The two main characters are a Democrat who has a perfect marriage and a house with grass in the roof. She supports abortion rights and a book about 'Two Mommies.' The Accused killer is a Republican who's 'Gun Woman of the Year'. Her husband is a skirt chaser and she has shellacked hair and conservative suits. The two women nearly get in a fight over a newspaper. Ridiculous premise.
I've read all of these books but this will be the last. Lucy is just learning about texting and her daughter has a MySpace page. I'm hoping the book was released years ago and only now on audio. It's incredibly dated.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not this series

What does Karen White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She does a good job. I enjoyed her reading of the book.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Ridiculousness...stereotypes bound.
