This book lists you what you need to have a high emotional intelligence and why it is important (no surprise, things you already know if you are 20+ and have read a bit), but not the way to get there.

What does everyone in the modern world need to know? Renowned psychologist Jordan B. Peterson's answer to this most difficult of questions uniquely combines the hard-won truths of ancient tradition with the stunning revelations of cutting-edge scientific research. Humorous, surprising, and informative, Dr. Peterson tells us why skateboarding boys and girls must be left alone, what terrible fate awaits those who criticize too easily, and why you should always pet a cat when you meet one on the street.

Disclosure: I am politically a progressive person, therefore not naturally inclined to agree with M. Peterson's views. Nevertheless I think it crucial to get out of one's bubble, listen to, endeavour to understand and thoroughly grapple with oppinions one doesn't share (possibly embracing part of them). Unfortunately I found this book to be an indigestible mush of statements, affirmations, judgements that the author tries to substantiate and densify with quotes of only (and therefore often unfittingly) 4-5 sources: the bible, Nietzsche, Freud-Jung, and Dostoevsky-Soljenitsine. Not enough to build a coherent, informed, let alone convincing discourse. Apart from interesting considerations in the first chapters and here and there, and from a recognizingly genuine humanistic stance, not much to go beyond posture and self-important commandments, a lot of circular thinking and sophistry. Very frustrating to listen to.
