Habits aren’t destiny. As Charles Duhigg shows, by harnessing this new science, we can transform our businesses, our communities, and our lives.

Very good thought provoking info. I wish there was a little more practical step by step take-a-ways. There's a brief attempt at the end but it seems like there could be more. I did really enjoy the book though. The narration is good quality and doesn't serve as a distraction as can often happen with audio books. Good job.

Kentucky basketball coach John Calipari is known for his unparalleled ability to recruit the nation's best young players, some of whom will spend just one year with him before going to the NBA, and convincing them to commit to the team without sacrificing their personal goals. It is a promise he makes to them: "Fully invest in the present - and each other - and I guarantee it will serve your future." Here, for the first time, he distills his team-building methods in ways that apply to CEOs, business owners, and more.

There's a lot to be said for the importance of how you train, lead and mentor others with extreme talent. John does a good job of bringing a well rounded approach to considering many factors. Personally, I also really enjoyed the references to individual players stories. It's too bad that it isn't Coach Cal voicing the reading. Otherwise, it's very good.

This book has great advice that is written in a way that makes it very easy to digest and practical to implement. The narrator speaks in an easy to follow tone without being a distraction (as I find with some audiobooks read by others who aren’t the author). I recommend the book and this audio version. By forcing us to apply a more selective criteria for what is Essential, the disciplined pursuit of less empowers us to reclaim control of our own choices about where to spend our precious time and energy - instead of giving others the implicit permission to choose for us. Essentialism is not one more thing - it’s a whole new way of doing everything. It’s about doing less, but better, in every area of our lives. Essentialism is a movement whose time has come.

Do you ride the escalator or do you take the stairs? No matter how you define success, it always requires one thing: self-discipline. But as popular speaker and strategist Rory Vaden explains, we live in an "escalator world", one that's filled with shortcuts, quick fixes, and distractions that make it all too easy to slide into procrastination, compromise, and mediocrity. What seems like an easier path is really much harder in the end - and, most important, it won't take you where you want to go.
