Completely enjoyed this book, though some concepts weren’t fully fleshed out by the end. It was fun and exciting and I’ve already downloaded the second in the series. Highly recommend for readers of period romance who also like a bit of plot with their smut.

The drama in this one was a bit flimsy, so much so I was just too annoyed to finish the last hour of listening. The characters were good but why does this author give every male lead in her books a sprawling apartment overlooking Central Park? Bothered me enough to mention it in the review.

How did these two get so comfortable with each other after no time at all? They’ve been together one day and they’re already hugging and kissing affectionately and know personality traits like they’re old friends? This book has no development and little intrigue. Blah blah blah.

When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed. Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed. Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her, and hers towards him. And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she'll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.

I wish I would have known prior to purchase how dark this book is. Lots of pain, lots of drug use, sex on the edge of rape the first time as the girl is pretty high on drugs and is in and out of consciousness. The male leads aren’t exactly moral so I’m not really rooting for them. Just...not my style.

I've never been afraid of the dark...but that doesn't mean I wanted to live in it. Maybe everyone wants what they can't have, but I should've thought it over before I unlocked the door to their forbidden world. Number One is mostly silent. He watches me very carefully. Number Two is mostly gentle. But it's the other side of him I like best. Number Three is mostly reserved. It was carnal, it was sensual, and it was erotic. That's it. That's all it was supposed to be. A trip into the dark. A peek into the forbidden. I just didn't expect to like them.

The writing wasn’t thaaaat great. For example, I’ve just finished the book and still can’t tell you what color hair each of the guys had. There just wasn’t very much detail throughout the book. Also the female lead was also super wet and it bugged me. Other than that I loved it all, especially Smith with his vulnerability and weird fetishes haha. Won’t be moving on to the second in the series though.

I sped through these books so fast I missed out on some much needed sleep over the week! The story is simple and it really felt real in a lot of thought provoking ways. The characters are so wonderful and sweet I found myself saying “aww” out loud at certain points. I also found myself cracking up at the horrendously cheesy writing at times AND at the weirdly deep voice acting for Tate but it’s an erotic novel—it’s got to be fun. I got the first three books free with the romance package and will be getting the next three through regular audible. Very pleased with this series.
