Dalinar Kholin's Alethi armies won a fleeting victory at a terrible cost. The enemy Parshendi summoned the violent Everstorm, which now sweeps the world with destruction and in its passing awakens the once peaceful and subservient parshmen to the horror of their millennia-long enslavement by humans. While on a desperate flight to warn his family of the threat, Kaladin Stormblessed must come to grips with the fact that the newly kindled anger of the parshmen may be wholly justified.

I waited patiently for this book to be released and it was worth every minute of the wait. There is a meaning hidden in these books. It has helped me in my daily life in that it teaches a very basic rule of leadership. Do not ask someone else to do something you would not do yourself. Excellent book and series!

This book is my dream of survival, but even I know you cannot take on the world alone. Battle makes a good show of it and the story is well developed. If anyone can survive alone... It is Marcus Battle. I look forward to the rest of the series. Though please stop the multiple back stories. I understood their need in this book but it got a little distracting.

I prefer hearing complete stories. Both of these would make great full length novels but the way they are I am left feeling like I am missing something in the beginning and in the end. These stories are a 3 course meal but only the meat is on the plate.

Love this story. This is the third time I have listened to it. My only critique is the odd accents he gives Shawn's parents and the in-depth description of his gear... Like "The Glock 45 with the keystone grips and clickers magazines." Wouldn't it just be easier to say my Glock?

America is falling, ready to join the Roman Empire as a distant memory in the annals of history. The year is 2027. Tired and desperate, the American people are deep in the middle of The Second Great Depression. The Florida coastline is in ruins from the most powerful hurricane on record; a second just like it is bearing down on the state of Texas. For the first time in history, the Middle East has united as one and amassed the most formidable army the world has seen since the Third Reich.

This is a very real depiction of the collapse of our currency and what would follow if we do nothing to curtail the rampant borrowing and spending being done by our government. It is a wake up call to all of us not just the prepper or militia types.

This is one of the best depiction of the economic collapse facing America today. Our treasuries are emptying and our government continues to act as though the purse is bottomless. We are no longer citizens to the government we are now the assets and product that our government uses to feed its ever growing need for money and power. This book describes perfectly how I believe the downfall will come.

Any additional comments?

We listened to book 1 last summer on a car trip, and my son (who normally tolerates the car trip audio book) has been asking about more Theo on a regular basis. With another long trip planned, I downloaded book 2, and he was thrilled. Theo remains a solidly good kid - a loyal friend, respectful son, and budding lawyer. The secondary characters add interest and humor, since Theo and his parents are pretty straight-laced. We have book 3 ready for listening on the ride back home. Definitely worth the credit (or just purchase) as a family listen (upper elementary/middle school).
