A successful LA artist, Roman Velasco appears to have everything he could possibly want - money, women, fame. Only Grace Moore, his reluctant, newly hired personal assistant, knows how little he truly has. The demons of Roman's past seem to echo through the halls of his empty mansion and out across his breathtaking Topanga Canyon view. But Grace doesn't know how her boss secretly wrestles with those demons: by tagging buildings as the Bird, a notorious but unidentified graffiti artist - an alter ego that could destroy his career and land him in prison.

I accidentally ended up in this dimension. I had nothing. I knew no one. I barely survived the journey but landed in the best possible place; an ancient society of vampire hunters with the medical means to put me back together. I can't go home, but I can use the extra-abilities I gained from slipping dimensions to work for Black Swan and try to keep my friends alive.

One of the FB Reader's groups I belong to recommended this book (whoever you are, thanks so very much). Victoria Danann is an awesome author and I'm in the process of trying to read/listen to every one of her books (several series, but especially Witches of Wimberly, & Sanctuary Motorcycle club set in Austin). But this book is the foundation for my love for the Black Swan world and all the related books which follow. One of Danann's talents, and something I really love in my books) is the appearance of characters from previous books in later related series. There are at least 12 books in this series, and probably about 3-5 off shoot books, all of which are worth a read or listen.

However, this book is just marvelous. Great characters, which are more fully developed in later books in the series, and minimal whining. The main character, Elora, is smart, strong, resilient (and beautiful)... a model for what many writers about women should strive for, vs some of the whiny weak characters in other series (grrrr). Elora is dumped into another world, one where knights risk their lives to kill vampires (bad ones) and it's populated with elves, humans, fae, werewolves, and a variety of other rare and unusual beings with the occasional demon and angel hanging around. A better adult version of a Potter type series. Some really terrific sex, and true love. This is her first entry into Audible, and I'm hoping eventually all of her books with be available. I love the Ram character's reader. Yummy. Buy this book.

#tagsgiving, #sweepstakes,#music, # romance. I bought Hozier's album Church because it has Work, a killer song that represents this book's major themes. Two people who try for years to find each other, and when they do, it's a sweet, sexy and occasionally sad love story. I also loved it because of the major musical themes in the book. Ashley writes really wonderful books of love with tension, and some violence, and she threads characters from other books in the series into this one. Actually, as I read through her several series, she threads books from her Colorado based books into this and other books. I started by reading some of the more paranormal books, Pembroke Manor, Three Wishes, and am totally hooked by her writing. Listen to WORK from that album, after you finish this book. I do wish that there was a melody to Chain Link... Kristen Ashely, please give us the notes.

Delivering a rare book to a valued customer is definitely part of mild-mannered archivist Anna Whitfield's job description. You know what isn't? Protecting her precious cargo from midflight theft by the very pilot who is flying her to Half-Moon Hollow...while trying to appear as unappetizing as possible to the only other passenger, a vampire. Undead bookstore owner Jane Jameson could be waiting a very long time for her book. Possibly forever.

I found an envelope in the mail. No return address. My name on the front, my address. Inside was a check, made out to me, in the amount of 10 thousand dollars. Enough to pay the bills and leave me some left over to live on until I found a job. Enough to let me focus on classes. There was no name on the check, just "VRI Inc.", and a post office box address for somewhere in the city. No hint of identity or reason for the check or anything. No mention of repayment, interest, nothing...except a single word, on the notes line: "You." Just those three letters.

This is about a man who seriously needs to control someone. Pretty sexy. Some strange times in terms of the sex. This woman's life is a nightmare. It's hard to understand her need to fight the pull, and any idea that she'd want to get back to her 'crap' life is just weird.

There is definitely a mystery here, and that makes it interesting. However, the narrator is too slow... I'm like waiting for her to get to the point.

When a spaceship landed in an open field in the quiet mill town of Sorrow Falls, Massachusetts, everyone realized humankind was not alone in the universe. With that realization everyone freaked out for a little while. Or almost everyone. The residents of Sorrow Falls took the news pretty well. This could have been due to a certain local quality of unflappability, or it could have been that in three years the ship did exactly nothing other than sit quietly in that field, and nobody understood the full extent of this nothing the ship was doing better than the people who lived right next door.

I've read/listened to several of Gigi Pandian's books. This one, however, was sluggish, with so much repetition of the facts, that it was boring and I listened to several other books before going back to regretfully finishing it. It's disturbing that a female major character is so whiny, depressed, insecure and with such a lack of personal pride as to live the way she does. Please give this character a lift at some point (when does Anything good happen to her?).
