I was amazed at the dexterity of the speaker's voice and how he could shift from one character to the next and how he conveyed intent and it was a memorable telling of a story I never tire of experiencing.

For centuries, Lisette d'Alençon has been a warrior against the dark. She fights alongside her brothers and comrades. But when the dreams start coming, she can't bear to confess them to the Immortal Guardians' command. She dreams of a dark-haired man with soft eyes and brutal wounds, a man her heart aches for-and a man she knows has been declared a traitor. Zach is an exile, a loner. He won't defend himself against false accusations or grovel to those who should have faith in him.

Great Books - Too Much Review of Previous Material

I love these books, but they seem to have progressively begun to review past material more and more. In this one, it was overkill. If you need to have all the details of the previous books rehashed, then it would be wiser to start at #1 in the series, not #5. I felt like half the money I paid for this one was to retell the ones I already paid for. That was the only reason for a four and not a five. The stories are good and the narrator phenomenal!

For centuries, mystical creatures of all description were gathered to a hidden refuge called Fablehaven to prevent their extinction. The sanctuary survives today as one of the last strongholds of true magic in a cynical world. Enchanting? Absolutely. Exciting? You bet. Safe? Well, actually, quite the opposite... Kendra and her brother Seth have no idea their grandfather is the current caretaker of Fablehaven.

Would you try another book from Brandon Mull and/or E. B. Stevens?

I'm not sure because I couldn't actually listen to the whole book. If EB Stevens is narrating, Absolutely Not!!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I felt like a kindergartner, sitting on a rug, while the librarian read s-l-o-w-l-y and clearly to me. It dragged on and on and on. I'm not sure that would have been the case if the story had just been read at a normal pace.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Probably

Any additional comments?

I wanted to hear this book because it was one of my daughters favorites. Even she couldn't stand to listen to it as it was read. Don't they do screenings of a chapter or two before they release an entire audio book? I don't seem to be the only one with this opinion, and I will ALWAYS read the reviews before I buy a book in the future!
