A truly head-shaking tale of crazy people. "Because it is there", is that really a reason to do a crazy dangerous almost impossible quest? But wait, it gets better, now people STAND IN LINE to reach the summit of Everest...they stand in line in conditions that WILL kill you...and pay tens of thousands of dollars to do it...all while endangering the Sherpas and tour personnel to be able to say that they did it...sometimes the tour personnel literally drag them or tote them physically to the top so they can say "they did it" Sheesh. I encourage you to read this book so you will not become one of those people.

This is our story...

At one time or another, this was the story of an ancestor of almost everyone of us. There are variations, of course. Not everyone of my ancestors or yours was as brave or fleeing the kind of trials that this gentleman faced...not everyone was filled with the grace of this man. There are a lot more stories of people like this man than there are of the rich who waltzed in. I am humbled by the courage of this man.

What a struggle this woman has endured. What a dickinsian triumph, but at what a dickinsian cost. I am just in awe of her accomplishments and heart aches and so will you be...just wow.

trite, predictable, tedious, plodding, I think you can see that this was not my favorite listen...I suppose that it is acceptable for young adult fiction, it just didn't work for me.

If my wishes came true, this lady would be our next president. She is honest, generous, hard working, deserving, and she has lifted herself from very modest beginnings...qualities, I think we can agree, are missing from the current administration. I believe that this woman is what we should look for in a leader.

Having said all that, the worst thing that could happen to this good woman is to be elected president and I believe that she knows that. That is our loss but this book is our small compensation for that loss. Listen and learn.

I listen to audible books while I bicycle to and from work. I listened to Bahni read The Help and now Sister of Mine. No one brings a story to life like she does. She performs a wide range of characters, male and female, with convincing accents and feelings. I am sorry to reach the end of the story and to me that is the mark of a good story teller.

I just finished the trilogy and I am a little vague on what the books were about. We drone on and on and in the end, we are where we are. Don't bother folks. Go watch paint dry. Go watch water evaporate. Go watch radium decay into lead..to use a scientific comparison. Any of those things is comparable to reading this trilogy.

That is messed up.

Well...I am waiting, Audible.
