I love Danika Darks books. But I do not like April. I do not like the voice they gave her —didn’t like it in the last book. I’m not sure I was able to get past it to hear the character beyond it. I get that she’s tragic but she came off as too much of a victim and there were too many TSTL (Too Stupid To Love) moments. If she was so hardened and had been through such a rough life she would know better than do half the stupid stuff she did without telling anyone. It did come of as noble. I love Dannikas other characters and her books—can’t love them all. This one just wasn’t for me. I still loved Reno. I will still continue the series.

The female character was annoying and way too immature to be relatable. I understand she is "young" but she was very whiney and I couldn't find much I liked about her. Did not finish

I listened to the first part and it was ok. The female character kind of got on my nerves and the male narrator sounded kind of smarmy in some places. However he's better that the narrator from the second installment. This is suppose to be a three or four part series but the narrator changes after the first one going from female/male to only male. Male narrator doing female voices is dicey. I didn't finish the second installment. Truly this could've been one or maybe two segments. Stretching it seemed greedy on the publishers part.

The story was ok...more plot than the first one but I just can't get past Jack sounding like he's from NYC and not London. Splurging for a male English voice would've done wonders. I liked the narrator doing Grace and Holly and I'm thankful she didn't attempt the accent but it would've added to the story a great deal.

With Styxx at a point. It just wanted to get him to stop brooding and actually lash out at Archeron and others. Nonetheless, it was a good story, kind of tarnished Archeron's squeaky good guy image a little which was surprising and added more depth to the story.

I feel like this should have been limited to one book. There isn't enough substance to take it as far as a trilogy. I'm really struggling to finish. I feel like there are sex scenes more than plot. It seems like the sex scenes are just stretching the story out longer and truthfully I'm not impressed with them. There is something to be said about minimizing the sex scenes to make them have more impact and meaning.

The first book was ok but now I'm just bored and ready to be done. Truthfully, I'm not sure if I'm going to finish or just fast forward through the scenes and Nicki is getting on my last nerve.

I have read Sylvia Day before. I'm unsure if it was the dialogue and lack of character development that was lacking or if it was the performance that didn't work for me. I felt like some of the character voices were amateur imitations of John Wayne, Jack Nicholson, etc. It became distracting. Once that started to click with me the dialogue was lost. Interestingly it was the male characters that bothered me the most. Usually with a male performer it is the female voices they have trouble with. In an effort to make all the male characters sound different, I think he fell back onto imitations. I wanted to like the characters but felt they were very underdeveloped. At some points I felt lost and uninterested. I did finish it but only after everything else in my library was already finished.

What did you like best about Edge of Dawn? What did you like least?

Hillary Huber does a good job on the male voices but her female voices come off as whiney to me. Mira's voice was grating on my nerves when she was a child in previous audio books and her voice as an adult doesn't differ from a child. She's suppose to be a bad*** warrior - but she whines. I felt like some of the narraration was sing-songy and it seemed kind of patterned. Hard to explain but I love this series and I had to push myself through some parts of this one.

I like the introduction of the new warriors and the direction the new series is going in. I was just disappointed in Kellan and Mira's story - I'd been looking forward to it. I also felt that
Kellan's story line of becoming a rebel leader and the reasons behind it to be weak and could've used more umph. Something was just lacking to me. There needs to be more meat behind Kellan's story. What the heck was he doing for the past 8 years and why didn't he just go to Lucan to begin with?! Doesn't make sense and I had trouble letting go of that question throughout the entire book. I would've like to have seen Mira be more of a warrior and Kellan to use better sense.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I'm interested enough in the series to check out the next one because I still have hopes that it will get better. I will probably read the book though instead of the audio because my issues with the audio kind of ruin it for me.

Would you be willing to try another one of Hillary Huber’s performances?

not sure. I think I'm tapped out. The cadance of her narraration seems to be predictable. She does a decent job expressing the male voices but the women really come off as weak.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

doubt it.

What made the experience of listening to Iced the most enjoyable?

I read this when it first came out and then waited patiently for the sequel, but I just couldn't wait anymore and needed to revisit it as an audio book and it did not disappoint. I love that they have two narrartors so you can better imagine the alpha males without the 'female' narrarators trying to do deep voices. That drives me crazy. Both performances were good.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Iced?

Ryoden's quotes are awesome.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. and then some.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Didn 't mind the ending but there was a part that felt a little 'off' to me. Without giving anything away, I was all into it until a big 'reveal' which was a little off to me.

What about Kirsten Potter’s performance did you like?

I think she does a great job with the different voices and really makes me feel that there are different people playing those parts.
