I haven't experienced any of Ms. Strout's other titles but I found this to be lackluster in both my empathy for the character and the writing. With shorter books, my expectation is that they move faster. If you like Stout's style (I mean, she did win a Pulitzer), female protagonists with mommy issues and don't mind a slower pace, you'll find this book entertaining, as so many people have.

I listened to this as a result of finishing Bruce Springsteen's autobiography because I didn't want the story to end. This is not Bruce's book but it's the next best thing. How people from humble beginnings rise to international fame is always endearing and enlightening. This is required reading for any fan of the E Street Band.

I missed Jon Stewart so much I had to listen to this book to spend more time with him. He's an exemplary individual and this book is witness to just how extraordinary he is.

Melanie Warner presents well-researched, informative, truthful and shocking information on how the food additive industry is self-governed and how this position has evolved into what's allowed in our food today. If you read food labels and are interested in how to protect yourself from the dangers of un- and under researched additives, this is a must read. Just be prepared to start looking more closely at the products in the grocery store.

Can't get enough of Jeff Lindsay's Dexter

I started this series because I wanted something entertaining to read and I'm a huge fan of the Showtime series. I have not been disappointed. Each book offers the same witty insight into this dark character who's disturbed self-awareness is hilarious. And each subsequent book offers a new psycho while incorporating past characters. Hugely creative. I'm a fan of books read by the authors but at first was hoping Michael C. Hall would have been involved. I was wrong. After hearing Jeff Lindsay narrate, I couldn't imagine anyone else. Onto book 5.

It's refreshing to read a novel that isn't padded with extraneous prose just to reach a word count. This dark, compact story boasts enough pretty passages to be endearing yet aren't a distraction from the subject matter. From Ames bio, I expected some humor but I'm also a fan of doing something different. I think this story displays Ames' diversity. I prefer a novel that gives a reader something different than the movie adaption (and vice versa) and this is the case here. I would be (as some other reviewers have mentioned) interested in a sequel. If you like a dark, psychological, well-written, concise read for an afternoon or a short road trip, this is for you. It may, however, leave you wanting more.

Written and read by Mr. Hart, listening to this book is a special treat. Full of life lessons learned the hard way, it's equal parts empowering and entertaining. I'd recommend it to anyone at any age who wants to know how to achieve your dreams. Well done.

I haven't enjoyed fiction like this in years.
