Mere minutes after arriving at their Nantucket family beach home, nine-year-old Scotty Sullivan was out the back door, scrambling toward the shore with Larry, the family dog, fast on his heels. Late in the afternoon in mid-spring, the typical summer beach crowd visitors were still weeks away. Suddenly, Scotty became aware of an odd-looking object, hovering just above the crashing surf. In an age of hobbyist’s drones and all sorts of flying gadgets, he wasn’t overly concerned until the large flying object moved much, much, closer.

I love how Mark weaves a story about how our first contact with our galactic neighbors might turn out. How some of the government’s bureaucrats and politicians might want to elevate their careers over the good of humanity. It’s a real life political drama told in this wonderful fictional story. All political parties do this.
Only fault I can find in the story is the ending. I hope how the story ended is a cliffhanger for the next book in this story. If this is reason for the ending, then I can’t wait for the next book.
