This thought-provoking journal of a man's quest for truth - and for himself - has touched and changed an entire generation, and is ready to reach out to a new one. At its heart, the story is all too simple: a man and his son take a motorcycle trip across America. But this is not a simple trip at all, for around every corner, their pilgrimage leads them to new vistas of self-discovery and renewal.

I was assigned to read this book for a class which has little to do with this book. But I found that I finished the book even before my second class. Which is highly unusual for me. I generally don't enjoy "true story" books and often find them dull compared to my prefered fantasy novel. It definitely leans more towards a philosophical statement by the author rather than the described "road trip book" and perhaps this is why. Its thought challenging without being preachy.

I only had minor issues with the plot. Mainly revolving around the relationship between emma and harriet being very...questionable... in regards to whether it was a healthy relationship but those issues were not strong enough to completely stop listening. I had no problems with the performances of any of the actors. No character was particularly distracting nor to my surprise was the music or added background noise which can sometimes kill a good reading with one bad scene. I enjoyed it immensely and I look forward to more audible originals along these lines

F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic American novel of the Roaring Twenties is beloved by generations of readers and stands as his crowning work. This new audio edition, authorized by the Fitzgerald estate, is narrated by Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal ( Brokeback Mountain). Gyllenhaal's performance is a faithful delivery in the voice of Nick Carraway, the Midwesterner turned New York bond salesman, who rents a small house next door to the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby....

I never got to read this in high school since my English teacher said that it was overrated and over used in many high school curriculums. but I have a thing for the 1910s and early 20s so I thought I'd give it a whirl. And unfortunately I do have to agree with with that its a decent story with decent criticism of wealth and entitlement and all that those come with. But all in all it feels very gossipy and gives me the same feelings that digging through people's conflicts online or looking at the tabloids by the grocery checkout. Some people like that though and I can understand why its just not my cup of tea.

I really am enjoying these Warriors audio books and taking a ride down nostalgia lane.

The only thing I can complain about is greystripes voice its a minor thing but it has really affected my opinion on the character. Especially when you combine the voice with his behavior in this book and book before this one. Andrews does a decent job with the rest of the voices and I am interested to see what he does with characters in the future.

I really hope that the full second arc becomes available soon because I am dreading finishing the first arc and having nothing left to read.
