Lewis' legendary radio broadcasts during the war years, in which he set out simply to "explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times."

When the British fought the young United States during the War of 1812, they knew that taking the mouth of the Mississippi River was the key to crippling their former colony. Capturing the city of New Orleans and stopping trade up the river sounded like a simple task - New Orleans was far away from Washington, out of sight and out of mind for the politicians. What the British didn't count on was the power of General Andrew Jackson.

I learned about the War of 1812 in school, vaguely. This was fascinating information! I listened to it in 2 Days, unusual for me:) Brian’s reading of it was great, full of expression & enthusiasm. I would like my grandchildren to read this book in a few years. Actually, I think every American should read it. It reminded us how Americans all worked together for this magnificent nation called The United States of America. Certainly, still learning & growing, but I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else! Most of the world would like to live here, too. We are not forced to live here, but blessed to do so.

I read all of Debbie's books, but have never listened to any before. The readers did a fine job & made the story more imaginable by their male & female voices. Debbie always has wonderful, thought provoking themes. It makes the reader/listener stop & consider how they think about difficult situations. It also made packing more tolerably:)

It amassed billions in stolen gold and silver, all buried in hidden caches across the United States. Since 1865 treasure hunters have searched, but little of that immense wealth has ever been found. Now, 160 years later, two factions of what remains of the Knights of the Golden Circle want that lost treasure - one to spend it for their own ends, the other to preserve it.

I love history & am fond of mysteries, but this takes both to an all new level! I couldn't stop listening to it. Was up most of the night listening. The reader was wonderful & Mr. Berry's insights & information throughout was glorious:) what a wonderful experience:) Now, I'll start to read this series from the beginning. I'm sure I'll enjoy them & learn lots more about the recurring characters, but this book worked very well as a stand alone! Enjoy ! ,

The Irish-American story, with all its twists and triumphs, is told through the improbable life of one man. A dashing young orator during the Great Famine of the 1840s, in which a million of his Irish countrymen died, Thomas Francis Meagher led a failed uprising against British rule, for which he was banished to a Tasmanian prison colony. He escaped and six months later was heralded in the streets of New York - the revolutionary hero, back from the dead, at the dawn of the great Irish immigration to America.
