So if you have not read the Grey Wolfe Series by Quinn Loftis...READ THEM FIRST! I started this book but quickly realized there must be way more to the stories so I looked in Audible and found another entire series leading up to this book. I stopped and read through that series first (which was fantastic). Now this book is much more meaningful and super enjoyable. There is a list on Quinn Loftis's website that gives the order to read the books . This book should be read between books 7 and 8 of the Grey Wolfe Series.

Jacque Pierce was just an ordinary 17-year-old girl getting ready to start her senior year of high school in Coldspring, Texas. When a mysterious foreign exchange student from Romania moves in across the street, Jacque and her two best friends don't realize the last two weeks of their summer are going to get a lot more interesting. From the moment Jacque sets eyes on Fane she feels an instant connection; a pull like a moth to a flame. Little does she know that the flame she is drawn to is actually a Canis Lupus, werewolf, and she just happens to be his mate.

This is a fantastic series. I just finished book 7 and I'll not review each book individually. I was tremendously impressed with the writing. It's "clean" in that it doesn't have the graphic sex that most shifter books do. However, it is far from prudish. If I could sum it up it would be "real". The language of the characters, the topics of conversation, the relationships...it was all great.

I really loved the idea of this storyline and of all the characters. The problem was in depth and development. The storyline never really went much of anywhere. No tension or even really a climax for the storyline. The characters have the potential to be fabulous but they were so underdeveloped. If you like a book with not much detail or depth and lots of sex, this one is for you.

I won't review each book in turn but just know that I have listened to every book in this series and absolutely love them. The stories and characters are great. If you love Harry Potter and the Twilight series, then you will love this. The only thing I wonder about is the number of times the word "preternatural" is used...seems like a thesaurus may be in order.
It's not often that I'm so excited for the next book in a series but I'll be eagerly awaiting the next Immortal Guardians book.

I was just about to return this book because I cannot stand to listen to the narrator any longer. I'm about 45 minutes into the book. However, after reading all the reviews about what a fabulous story it is, I'm going to give it another shot and try to get past the narrator to enjoy the story. He definitely goes on my list of narrators to avoid - the voice is so breathy that it is terribly distracting.

But there is clearly something wrong with the production. I'm only about 45 minutes in and I can't stand any more. This needs to be corrected. All the characters sound like they are stoned.

I have listen to every one of the books in order. They are all fabulous. I love how the stories build slightly on each other but not so much that you have to remember previous details. I love Moning's sense of humor that comes through easily. I've often laughed out loud at something one of the characters said or did. The combination of old history and current day are wonderful. Take the time to listen to the series - if you enjoy fantasy, you won't be disappointed.

Any additional comments?

I just finished the entire series and wish there were more books in it. It was such a great blend of everyday life and a totally different mystical world. I can't believe there are not more reviews on this series and that you Mary Calme fans haven't read it. I don't typically like blood and gore and there was enough action in this to make it riveting but not so much as to be disturbing. The series was awesome. The narrator for the first book was great. I didn't like the narrator of the 2nd and 3rd nearly as well. The last book's narrator was OK. I hope you will give it try. I listen to books for distraction and don't like very deep and intense. This series was perfect.
