Children need love. Parents need respect. It is as simple and complex as that! When frustrated with an unresponsive child, a parent doesn't declare, "You don't love me." Instead the parent asserts, "You are being disrespectful right now." A parent needs to feel respected, especially during conflicts. When upset a child does not whine, "You don't respect me." Instead, a child pouts, "You don't love me." A child needs to feel loved, especially during disputes.

Intra Muros ('Between the Walls'), or My Dream of Heaven, was written in 1898. It was a vision given to the author during a severe illness. On reflection, she came to understand the short book as a series of basic truths about heaven, offering readers both confidence that God had prepared a place for them and that awaiting them there was a wonderful reunion with loved ones who had gone before.

Love is important, but it is respect that is the key to your son's heart. The idea of moms respecting their sons may sound alien to some, but it seems to ignite curiosity across the board. It is easy to relate to the need for all of us to feel a mother's love, but is that the same thing as respect? Even for young boys, the effect of respect is nothing short of astounding when applied properly.

A second reading 10 yrs later from publication has now, today changed my life! My new mantra is "live in expectancy and not with expectations" from the people I share life with. What a revelation! In the story, the loss of his child is just an example of any loss you've had. Substitute your loss for his while reading, and let this story wash over you afresh to bring healing to you. Then you can share your story of healing with others. Healing comes from knowing God is walking beside you on the worst days and trusting God.

A story of loss and hope for a world that longs for God. Such a beautiful and artistic picture of God.
