Drafted to play for the Jacksonville Sea Storm, an NHL affiliate, 20-year-old Lane Courtnall's future looks bright, apart from the awkwardness he feels as a gay man playing on a minor league hockey team. He's put his foot in his mouth a few times and alienated his teammates. Then, during a rivalry game, Lane throws off his gloves against Jared Shore, enforcer for the Savannah Renegades. It's a strange way to begin a relationship.

This is a delightful hockey story. I love when the characters are like Lane and make me laugh so much that it annoys my kids. Jared was amazing too with how much he loved Lane. Not jealous at all! Perfect secondary characters that I hope will get their own stories. Next up, Riley! Definitely 5 stars.

I had this audiobook for quite a while before listening to it, mainly because of the length. I am glad I finally listened because it was fantastic. So much action and a few tears in this love story between a mafia hit man and a contact kill determined to get revenge and wipe out the Mafia in the Lake Swan. There was no time during the roughly 12 hours of listening that I was bored. This story kept me riveted from start to finish. As usual Michael Ferraiuolo’s performance was awesome and spot on with the action taking place, as well as staying in character and accents consistently the whole way through. A must listen!!

Everyone admires Michael Lamont for being a nurse, but his part-time work as a gay sex surrogate not only raises eyebrows, it's cost him relationships. Michael is small, beautiful, and dedicated to working with people who need him. But what he really wants is a love of his own. He spends most of his time reading science fiction, especially books written by his favorite author and long-time crush, the mysteriously reclusive J.C. Guise.

Although, Ransom and Sal's story wasn't quite what I expected, it was still good. Since we experienced Ransom and Sal's meeting and initial attraction in Jinx's and Jaden's story, I felt that this book revolved more around them getting to know each other and of course, the introduction of their crisis. Unfortunately, this is my least favorite storyline of the series and for such an important topic, I hope that future stories will enhance the overall challenge they have encountered. When I first read the book, I came away at the end feeling like the details and connection between the MCs were too rushed and glossed over. With the audiobook, I was hoping I'd change my mind, but I didn't. Still, the overall story is good and brings up a few topics for future books. I do have to say that I totally love Rebel's Grandpa!!

Griff: I learned early on that the easiest way to avoid a broken heart is to always be the first out the door. Caring about anyone or anything is asking to be disappointed, which is why I avoid relationships and chase freelance gigs instead of chasing my dreams. A very good story of first love between college roommates, John and French exchange student, Etienne. Not a huge amount of back story, but enough to give the character depth. Very little angst makes this (somewhat) GFY love story kind of sappy, but definitely enjoyable. The narrator was excellent with Etienne's French accent.

What did you love best about My Hometown?

The story was a good GFY love story about two best friends, Jimmy and Eric reconnecting after Jimmy took off to Chicago for college to become a doctor, while Eric stayed close to home. After the years apart, Jimmy moves back home for his residency, bringing his flamboyant boyfriend Oliver. Having to work through some changes between the two and overcoming a few misunderstandings, Jimmy and Eric find their back to being friends, even though it's obvious that they are meant for more.

What did you like best about this story?

I really liked Oliver's character, even though he was a little shit and not right for Jimmy. He definitely needs his own story and hopefully, a better fit for a narrator.

What three words best describe Ronald Ray Strickland’s voice?

Not right for the story. While he had a southern drawl, it just didn't fit right for a character who spent 8 years in Chicago. The southern tone didn't sound like a Tennessee accent, where the story takes place. Additionally, all the characters sounded the same, even the Mom.
