Rosalind lived for the hunt. Now she might die for it. Rosalind's mission is simple: hunt demons and mages. As a member of the Brotherhood, she's dedicated to protecting the world from dark magic. Someone's got to stop the supernatural bloodlust - plus, hunting's a hell of a lot more exciting than her computer science classes.

Really enjoyed this book, Rosiland takes a little getting used to but I think it was a bit the narrator's voice and her tendency to be a space cadet at certain times. Different take on vampires and demons..with the way it's written I was a little unsure if vampires and demons were considered the same or just under the same night god. Loved Caine, Tammy and Aurora-all the side kicks were fun and I'm hoping to see more of Malphus in the next book. The narrator's voice just grated on my nerves. She did a great job with the male character voices but she ends her sentences with a little sigh type sound that..uggg...nails on a chalk board.
Happy Reading.

Let's get one thing straight - Ivy Wilde is not a heroine. In fact she's probably the last witch in the world you'd call if you needed a magical helping hand, regardless of her actual abilities. If it were down to Ivy, she'd spend all day every day on her sofa, where she could watch TV, munch junk food, and talk to her feline familiar to her heart's content. However, when a bureaucratic disaster ends up with Ivy as the victim of a case of mistaken identity, she's yanked very unwillingly into Arcane Branch.

What made the experience of listening to Slouch Witch the most enjoyable?

the feline familiars

What other book might you compare Slouch Witch to and why?

First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones

Have you listened to any of Tanya Eby’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

no

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

laughed a lot since Ivy has quite the sarcastic personality and..the cats!

Any additional comments?

This is a fun book. It started a little slow and it took my almost half the book before I got attached to Ivy. If you're a fan of Darynda Jones' humor with Charlie Davidson you might like this book. Now having said that this is "chick lit" type reading compared to Charlie but as entertaining. And OMG the feline familiars are hilarious. I LOVE Brutis-Ivy's familiar.
Really fun first read by this author.

Nevada Baylor can't decide which is more frustrating - harnessing her truthseeker abilities or dealing with Connor "Mad" Rogan and their evolving relationship. Yes, the billionaire Prime is helping her navigate the complex magical world in which she's become a crucial player - and sometimes a pawn - but she also has to deal with his ex-fiancée, whose husband has disappeared and whose damsel-in-distress act is wearing very, very thin.

Any additional comments?

I have no idea how they keep coming up with these stories? They have everything you want in an urban fantasy with a touch of paranormal romanceishness. When people complain about delayed release dates I really just want to slap them. 1-it's most likely the publisher, editor, etc that has caused the delay OR 2-they are perfecting the story-THIS is what we wait for people! Excellent writing, engaging characters, a story that you gobble up as fast as your mind can process what you read. I hope Nevada and Rogan get a long story line like Curran and Kate b/c they are just as much fun. I wish the covers could reflect the awesomeness of the story and characters. The covers look like a Harlequin Romance (not that there's anything wrong with Harle) and this is so much more/different. Don't judge a book by its cover. Great story!!

Renee Raudman was awesome as always!

I knew the sins of my past would call to collect what was left of my soul. If I'd known the price I'd pay, I would've sacrificed more to stay hidden from the magic. In the middle of Wyoming - away from the abnormals of the world - I thought I was free and clear. I started a new life. Found a love I'd never known in a husband, and a son who was my everything. And in a blinding instant, that life was stolen from me.

Which scene was your favorite?

would be a spoiler

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When she has to let Bear go.

Any additional comments?

I think in the world of Shannon Mayer I'm a rookie. I've read and adored the Rylee Adamson series. I've read the Venom books and liked the world/story better than the MC. This was a whole new experience. The beginning is tragic and as a mom some parts were extremely hard especially at the time she looses her boys. I've read some of the reviews that readers had a hard time connecting to Nix or liking her and I can see that BUT if you think about it, it would be hard to connect with someone who only ever loved or was loved by two people that were tragically taken from her. I found by the last 1/4 of the book her character was making a shift that I think will make it easier for people to connect with her. I loved everything about the book and holy cliffhanger batman.....have preordered #2.

Khristine Hvam is one of my all-time favorites and does a fantastic job with the characters.

In Minatsol, being a dweller means that you are literally no better than dirt. In fact, dirt might actually be more useful than Willa. Her life will be one of servitude to the sols, the magic-blessed beings who could one day be chosen to become gods. At least her outer village is far removed from the cities of the sols, and she won't ever be forced to present herself to them... Until one small mistake changes everything, and Willa is awarded a position to serve at Blesswood, the top sol academy in the world - a position that she definitely did not earn.

This book is so much fun I couldn't put it down and when I did I was up at 2:30 am "just finishing this chapter". This is my first read by this author and I'm doing a little happy dance at the discovery.I have to say that if I had not read the reviews and expected Willa to be irksome in the beginning this would have been a DNF-I know crazy right-from DNF to 5 stars!Willa is a klutz (which I can relate to) but also has no motivation to learn new things i.e., school, books advice from friends. She doesn't like the fact the she is a "lowly" dweller but makes no effort to improve herself, just a go with the flow type of girl that falls over a lot. I can say that she grows on you and once she gets to Blesswood and meets up with the Abcurse brothers her inner dialog became one of my favorite aspects of the book. The brothers are just...well, they are like riding a unicorn on a rainbow while eating birthday cake covered with cookie dough ice-cream and sprinkles. The secondary characters are well developed enough that they could have a spin off of their own. The world building is superb, the writing is great (with the exception of some kindle grammatical stuff) and the story is new, refreshing and a page turner. It was a bit like taking adult Hunger Games adding a little Dark Hunter smash in a little Darynda Jones (Charlie Davidson) humor and the Abcurse brothers. Cocktail for success people.Happy Reading!

For the last seven years she's been collecting a bracelet of black beads up her wrist, magical IOUs for favors she's received. Only death or repayment will fulfill the obligations. Only then will the beads disappear. Everyone knows that if you need a favor, you go to the Bargainer to make it happen. He's a man who can get you anything you want...at a price. And everyone knows that sooner or later he always collects. But for one client, he's never asked for repayment. Not until now.

What about Susannah Jones’s performance did you like?

Great job with Callie's voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When The Bargainer leaves 16 yrs old Callie for the last time.

Any additional comments?

Initially I was a bit frustrated with this book as it travels back and forth from present to 7 years ago when Callie's 16 year old world was shattered in multiple ways. Once I got the hang of it I was a happy camper. I love Callie's strength and maturity but sometimes (when it comes to The Bargainer) her decisions weren't quite consistent with the character I thought I knew. But then if I were faced with the fae king of the night I might just piss myself so WTF do I know?
The first third of the book was slow for me but once it took off I couldn't put it down. And the bad guy is SO, SO good-you'll just loathe him-he is that disgustingly good.
Off to read the next one.

Georgina Kincaid has formidable powers. Immortality, seduction, shape-shifting into any human form she desires, walking in heels that would cripple mere mortals - all child's play to a succubus like her. Helping to plan her ex-boyfriend's wedding is a different story. Georgina isn't sure which is worse - that Seth is marrying another woman, or that Georgina has to run all over Seattle trying on bridesmaid dresses.

What a ride! So much happens in this book. After initial heartbreak comes MORE heartbreak but not mostly about Seth. Without adding spoilers.....an event gives us the opportunity to learn about Georgina's past and not just what happened before she sold her soul but everything in between. It's astounding how many layers the writer has tied up in this one character, albeit she is the MC but each one of the characters in this cast could have a spin off book easily. She is that good at developing these characters that you feel their relationships with each other and yourself-amazing!
The book summary gives you a good jumping off point, just be prepared to hang on for the ride.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My heart is broken...rarely does a book come along that I get so caught up in the characters that I actually FEEL their pain. In this book I am with Georgina, Seth and Maddie every heart breaking step of the way. The dichotomy of emotions are wonderfully torturous.
You get the summary of the story...the gang's abilities disappear with Jerome, Georgina sets of to figure it all out and deal with her raging pendulum of emotions, etc.
Roman is back baby!!!! BEST DAY EVER!!!
So many twist and turns that I've come to expect from this writer. I only wish I had an interest in young adult so I'd more of her work to read....I know this series is going to end at book 6 and I'm already mourning the loss, it's THAT GOOD guys!
