Four decades after it first shook the nation, then the world, William Peter Blatty's thrilling masterwork of faith and demonic possession returns in an even more powerful form. Raw and profane, shocking and blood-chilling, it remains a modern parable of good and evil and perhaps the most terrifying novel ever written.

Across the world, but particularly in the United States, startlingly horrific crimes have almost become commonplace, causing us to double-lock our doors at night and look over our shoulders, wondering if we're safe, no matter how crowded or well-lit our location is. In this true crime release, we've compiled some of the most gripping and gruesome crime stories of 2017.

Almost every year, we believe that nothing can top the abject horror of the last 12 months when it comes to true crime stories, homicides, execution-style murders, or serial killers that are still on the prowl, leaving behind a trail of blood, tears, and sorrow. Then, of course, the New Year begins.

I'm still going t lo watch her show. I'm still going to back up her causes and, I would definitely still recommend this book. You just have to be in a different frame of mind. I'll re-listen, some othee day. Love the kindness. Love the love. What a beautiful person soul.

"Reporters love murders," Calvin Trillin writes in the introduction to Killings. "In a pinch, what the lawyers call 'wrongful death' will do, particularly if it's sudden." Killings, first published in 1984 and expanded for this edition, shows Trillin to be such a reporter, drawn time after time to tales of sudden death. But Trillin is attracted less by violence or police procedure than by the way the fabric of people's lives is suddenly exposed when someone comes to an untimely end.

it is exactly what it says it is. An overview of murders from before the 5 Burroughs became NYC and after. The police stretched thin. The FBI not sharing information so they could bulk up their performance reviews. Most of the crimes, I'd never heard of. The book gives you options to take note of the ones that made an impression upon you; so, you can dig further into it on your own. I liked this book immensely for being true to it's title.
