I told myself I didn't need friends. I didn't need family. I sure as f**k didn't need him. And you know what? I was right. He had been inside of me, coursing through my veins. So I cut and bled Dash Chambers until I was free. But the day I returned to Six Forks and was thrown at his feet, I realized I would never forget how it felt to have every inch of him inside me...and he's waiting.

Dash and Willow have such distinct personalities. I am really glad they were not changed or given traits just to be able to write the same sex scenes. I like when characters' personalities are maintained. I noticed that was not so much the case in the last book featuring Keenan and Sheldon. The narrators are amazing throughout this entire series.

So I treated you like one. Okay, so if dude is putting kids in the trunk then he does not need to be a father. I just can't with this guy. Kieran was a killer and he had a dark past. He also hurt Lake when he pushed her off the monkey bars but he even admitted he hated seeing bruises on her. I mean I get Keenan went through some shit but not near as much shit as Kieran. Not to mention they are making sex more important than the kid. I mean the writer obviously never had to go through kidnapped kid bc the last thing you are thinking about is sex. I don't really understand why Keenan cannot stop being an abusive bastard and putting her in the trunk was too much. She could have suffocated on her own vomit and he was driving crazy and throwing her around. Kieran gained control through sex but Keenan (who by the way I really loved in the first two books) was just a fuckin psychotic dick. I guess the writer is more invested in the abuse than being true to the characters. I know the dark romance is a popular thing but being true to the characters stories is more important, especially in a series like this. It just really kind of makes me feel like the same story is being repeated with new names with more violence thrown in. I hope the next book with Willow and Dash story does not follow this pattern.

This chick is like a constant evolution of an emotional breakdown. It is like watching a freakin train wreck in slow motion .I mean he says, "What do you have to lose K?" Well, taking off with a stranger that you have known less than 24 hours to a different country without the money to get yourself back home if ends up being some psycho or even drops dead. But, hey let's just go with it what do you have to lose. Too much emotion in the female narrators voice. She constantly sounds like she is crying. I mean it is good to have that in points where it is warranted but sounding like your chin is wobbling when you are just giving descriptive dialog you could put a little strength in your voice and tone it down a bit. Male narrator did a great job but his female voice could use a little more emotion and fragility... I am sure that may be more difficult than it sounds. Overall good job though.

They say that life is a beautiful lie and death a painful truth. They're right. No one has ever made me feel more alive than the guy who serves as a constant reminder that my clock is ticking. He is my forbidden, shiny apple. The striking fallacy to my blunt, raw, truth. He is also my sister's ex-boyfriend. One thing you should know before you judge me: I saw him first. I craved him first. I loved him first. Eleven years later, he waltzed into my life, demanding a second chance. Dean Cole wants to be my bronze horseman. Hopefully, he isn't too late.

I look forward to more of the story in future books in this series. L.J. Shen has created an entire cast of characters in this series who win your heart one by one. However, I am particularly engaged by Vicious and Ruckus, as well as their leading ladies.

"“Like you?” My face twisted in abhorrence, spitting the words like they were revolting. Her eyes widened. I shook my head, a dark chuckle on my lips. “You think I fucking like you? The other part of my life was about avoiding him, but when SWAT raided my boyfriend's home, that was the last straw. The boyfriend got tossed, and to help me keep busy, my brother talked me into joining their old band again. I have to be honest, though; it wasn't a hard sell.

I want to strangle Luke from the moment the male narrator opens his mouth. He has to be the slowest pussy that ever existed. He never speaks up against the addict cousin constantly putting them all in danger and verbally abusing the supposed "Love of his life" but, he kicks her out of the band without a backwards glance. I just wanted him to come back to her being gone. He didn't really have to do shit to earn her. The book is great and well written. The characters are obviously well developed for me to be so fuckin angry at the so called "hero".

So now he owns it. He has a lady friend for every night of the week (except Sundays - God's day and all), and his rules are simple: No commitments. No exceptions. It wasn't supposed to be like this.... I wasn't supposed to be boyfriendless, homeless, and jobless at 28. And I most definitely wasn't supposed to hit Hollywood's resident bad boy Gabriel Evans with my car and break his foot. Now I'm stuck in his apartment, taking care of him while he's incapacitated. Living with the hottest guy in Hollywood, who I've had a crush on forever, doesn't sound like a chore, right? Wrong. Gabriel Evans is rude and crude and drinks way too much, and as soon as his foot is healed I'm out of here. So why do I keep forgetting to check the classifieds?

Célian Laurent. Manhattan royalty. Notorious playboy. Heir to a media empire...and my new boss. I could have impressed him, if not for last month's unforgettable one-night stand. I left it with more than orgasms and a pleasant memory - namely, his wallet. Now he's staring me down like I'm the dirt under his Italian loafers, and I'm supposed to take it. But the thing about being Judith "Jude" Humphry is I have nothing to lose. Brooklyn girl. Infamously quirky. Heir to a stack of medical bills and a tattered couch.

The sex is hot from the beginning but the love story stays at a slow simmer for most of the book. The characters are well developed and deeply explored. The verbal backgammon is intelligent and witty. L.J. Shen is not only a gifted story teller but she is a spell weaver in that you leave her books feeling not like a story has just ended but as if you have a new friends whom you have just gotten to know, but whose stories have just begun. Unlike when you read Cinderella or other HEA fairytales you are left with a designated ending where it is hard to envision the every day thereafter that will lead to a full and exciting together.

Reading L.J. Shen endings is full of visuals that leave room for further mental exploration of character experiences and perhaps room to be revisited in future books even if it is just in the support role. I greatly admire this author and look forward to reading all her books. There are a few current authors whose works I am plowing through but this level of excitement for devouring and author is reminiscent of my first encounters with Judith McNaught, Julia Garwood, and Jude Deveraux. Although, it is a different sub-genre and certainly more modern and contemporary, it is still that feeling of joy that comes from the deep satisfaction of hungering for the words that ultimately lead to an emotional satisfaction that only the true romance connoisseur can appreciate fully.

“John Lennon started his music career as a choir boy. I never said it before, because it terrified me to admit it, but you’re my church (although I plan to be inside you way more than just on Sundays).—Célian”

Lucy is seriously a walking contradiction... I hate to cry but she is whiney as all hell. Definitely NOT a strong female lead even though she is supposedly called such. I get such a narcissistic vibe from Lucy that it gets hard as fuck to endure at times. Also, why does the story keep alluding to the shit that happened to her that is so deep but she keeps obsessing on the stupidest shit. There are time gaps that make little sense and has no decent story as to explain it. Harris is a bit of a pussy with his uninvited roommate. I mean being the products of these bad ass people all around them you would think they would have more balls. It reads like a bunch of kids pretending to be brave. Neither of them seem to be too immature for the level of relationship they are trying to perpetrate.

I am half in love with Vicious lol. I say half because my rational mind keeps reminding me he is a fictional character. This was my first L.J. Shen and Christian Rummel experience, and I am not really sure which one I am most drawn to but the overall combination can only be described as … synergy. I would love to see more pink and black, perhaps a short follow up Novella (Or full novel, the more the merrier) featuring Pink and Black, as well as, Ruckus and Baby LeBlanc. An in depth philosophical dive into the subject of morality.
