White Justice

One of the most pernicious and persistent myths in the United States is the association of Black skin with poverty. Though there are forty million more poor white people than Black people, most Americans, both Republicans and Democrats, continue to think of poverty—along with issues like welfare, unemployment, and food stamps—as solely a Black problem. Why is this so? What are the historical causes? And what are the political consequences that result?

In his debut book, Phillip Scott exposes the hidden tactics, code words, attitudes and tricks White supremacists employ to oppress Black people and other people of color (POC). From pointing out discriminatory hiring practices to exploring the lack of Black Americans in corporate, judiciary, and governmental roles, Scott argues the necessity of dismantling White supremacy for a better tomorrow. The author also provides ways to address coding, pocket watching and "trick questions" from White supremacy empathizers.

Referring to the defensive moves white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent meaningful cross-racial dialogue.
