Seneca Bio

De Brevitate Vitae (frequently referred to as On the Shortness of Life in English) is a moral essay written by Seneca the Younger, a Roman Stoic philosopher, to his father-in-law Paulinus. The philosopher brings up many Stoic principles on the nature of time, namely that men waste much of it in meaningless pursuits. According to the essay, nature gives man enough time to do what is really important and the individual must allot it properly.

Timeless truths. Seneca captured many of these in his work On the Shortness of Life. Unfortunately, while his concepts are timeless, Seneca wrote them in Latin over 2,000 years ago. This work brings those ideas into the present by discussing the concepts and truths of Seneca in a way relatable to the modern reader. After all, Seneca never got stuck in traffic, waited in a drive-thru for his morning latte, or got drawn into a social media feed for hours on end.
