Kit, at the tender age of 11, leaves her home to join the Temple of the Fist, a group of austere warrior-priests dedicated to delivering justice and retribution to the kingdom of Arnnor. After five cycles as an acolyte, during what should have been a simple protection mission, Kit uncovers a sinister plot to eradicate the wolves across the kingdom. But why? With the help of her new friends, a young tracker named Indie and a dire wolf named Runt, can the young priest follow the trail to its grizzly conclusion?

Kit, a girl of only 15, who had only recently achieved the position of Priest, is sent to a nearby village to investigate a series of unexplained deaths of human children. In doing so, she discovers something much deeper than just unrest; powerful people seek to remove all humans from the northern kingdoms, for the supposed crimes they are committing against the Berrat. As a reward for her recent successes, an elderly priest gifts Kit a sentient dragon-bone cane and information on the location of an ancient library.

Kit’s 16th birthday went from bad to worse when she got dragged off to investigate rumours of spider god worshippers infesting a nearby village.

Kit's progress in taking down the massive slave trade that threatens her kingdom takes a turn for the worse. Enemies seem to be around every turn, each with their own motives and desire to remove Kit from their path. Her success will depend largely on her friends, but accepting their aid may result in a death sentence for all of them.
