Twelve-year-old Aya Mustapha has more brothers and sisters than she can keep track of. Ten siblings, and her mum and dad – all living under the one roof. Who has time to remember that many names (eyeroll emoji)?

And as her thirteenth birthday approaches, Aya is given her first diary as an early birthday present - someone to talk to when the house gets busy. In it, we learn all about the chaos of the Mustapha family and Aya's first year wearing a hijab, which, she quickly learns, has perks! These include (but are not limited to):

Things are going well . . . until someone at school frames Aya and her best friend for something they didn’t do, and suddenly it’s up to Aya to solve the mystery and really make a splash!
