Is this really my life? From the moment college catalogs started arriving, my mother pushed me towards a degree in accounting. There are worse careers in the world, so after school, I landed a job at a firm with an eye on taking classes to become a CPA. Once Gran and I find a person straight out of mythology, I realize there’s more to this world than I ever imagined.

I know what goes bump in the night, but it's humans that are the problem. Instead of using my powers as a Reader to work the psychic network hotlines, I work as a field agent for the clandestine agency, AIR. My elven partner Logan is showing me the ropes. Relocating a troll and interviewing a werewolf should be a normal day. When shots are fired and a fairy turns up dead, our day turns into a nightmare.

The werewolf may be my best friend, but if Rider calls me thick again, he’s going to be eating my hand warmers. Working for the clandestine Agency of Interdimensional Regulation is amazing, until you’re stuck behind a desk. My first day back in the field finds me face to face with gremlins and those little creatures love their metal. I should have thought of that because losing your clothes at work is hard to live down. Back at the office, news surfaces of goblins on the march. Aggressive, territorial, and downright mean, the goblins appear to be out for blood.

My job working for a clandestine government agency AIR allows me to use my powers without appearing crazy. With my partners, I protect the Lost, mythological creatures from other dimensions, and keep them hidden from the outside world. Throwing myself into work as much as possible keeps me focused, so I don’t have time to dwell on the uncertainty of the past.

Life’s not perfect, but I didn’t realize it could be this good. Family, job, friends, that’s all covered. Caring boyfriend, Ethan, was icing on the cake. As each strand of happiness is ripped away, I’m forced to see how bad things can get. When we’re called into a civilian crime scene, it makes it impossible to hide my secret from Ethan. After a madman and a killer crash our date, Ethan learns more than he can handle, so he’s out the door. For me, there’s no time to stop.

We’re on bigfoot’s trail, trying to catch up to him before a hunter does. Rider is distant, Vincent is uneasy, and Ethan is way too excited about meeting a bigfoot. When we find traces of the stalker, the scent Rider is tracking and what I see in the path don't line up. Something strange is happening in the mountains. Are we tracking a hunter, or something else altogether different?

Apprehension and turmoil with those closest to me has me ready to jump back into work. Discovering the body of a colleague before I’m cleared for active duty isn’t a great start, and a video of my power in action has people looking at me sideways. To avoid the stares, I jump at the chance to cart around a group of visiting agents.

Vincent slipped between worlds once again, saving us all in the process. He's a Walker, it's what he does. Sure, he tried to kill me once, but that was in the past. The last thing I wanted was for him to go away, especially since our rocky past has authorities questioning his disappearance. A string of thefts is the perfect excuse to go to the city. Dodging the office is a little easier while helping MyTH on a case, but if Vincent doesn't surface soon, I don't need Gran to predict that my future contains bars.

It’s one thing to have bad dreams, it’s another to hunt them. Boone needed backup, so the team is going into a steaming rain forest. Searching out the lost in remote places was par for the course, but the lurking monster and forbidding terrain were not the only complications we faced.

Working with my arm in a sling isn’t easy, but if it keeps the military from having access to the team, I’m all for it. Besides, the body count is rising, and magic is in the air - there’s a lot of work to go around. Being injured isn’t the only hardship. My partners aren’t inclined to ask me to read, even to help with a case. Not that I blame them. The last time I read the path, I died. The time before that, I killed someone. Now, I can’t even seem to reach the path. With the damaged I caused, it’s for the best.
