  • How I took care of myself during a tough time period
    Apr 14 2026

    Send us Fan Mail

This week, I am sharing a very vulnerable story about how I showed up for myself during an intense health scare. I am hoping this gives you some ideas of things you can do for yourself or someone else in your life who is also having a rough time right now.

  • Why stress management strategies are not always successful
    Mar 17 2026

    Send a text

The two main coping strategies I see most often when it comes to managing stress are: 1) ignore the thoughts creating the stress or the feelings associated with it and keep powering through your work for as long as possible or 2) have some coping strategies, but never know if/when they would work.

Sadly, neither of those strategies is sustainable or particularly effective. So what works instead? Getting to know the thought patterns that fuel your stress and the way stress shows up in your body. And then learning how to manage both of these in a way that is customized specifically for you!

  • Heated Rivalry, calling yourself lazy, and the origins of your inner critic
    Mar 3 2026

    Send a text

If you've ever called yourself lazy, you have something in common with Ilya Rozanov. Did I find a convenient angle tied to my work in "Heated Rivalry" just so I can talk about this show that has been consuming my brain? Absolutely! But does the show have a lot to teach us about the origins of our own inner critics and the impact of how we talk to ourselves? Also absolutely!

Join me this week as I fangirl really hard about this show, and also (hopefully) provide some insights into what happens when we find ourselves repeating toxic stories that were passed down to us.

I also share my thoughts about the representation of Eastern European culture and family dynamics on the show. And also a bunch of other thoughts on why I think this show is just the best!

  • Working vs. panicking about work
    Feb 17 2026

    Send a text

How much time do you spend doing your work vs. panicking about your work? And when you feel overwhelmed, is it because there is actually too much to do, or because you know you will end up spinning and distracting yourself for hours on end (and will THEN have very little time left for anything else)?

  • Are you harming your health by trying to be too self-sufficient?
    Sep 28 2025

    Send a text

We have been taught that admitting we can't do everything on our own is equivalent to failing. And this intense focus on self sufficiency is really harming us.

In this episode, Maria talks about the cultural roots of the self-sufficiency lessons we've learned. And how to move away from them and actually start taking care of ourselves.

  • Why is it so hard to do the things that we know will help?
    Sep 23 2025

    Send a text

Do you nod to content about setting boundaries and giving yourself a break? But when the time comes to actually apply that you just default back to saying "yes" and working late? That's the application gap - that gap between knowing and doing, where fear, default beliefs, and nervous system activation get in the way.

This week, Maria talks about why that happens and how to fix it!
