  • Episode 040: Five Tips for Product Photography For Product Listing Photos on Etsy + Other Online Platforms
    Jun 8 2024

Morning! Today, we've got a cross post from my Print on Demand podcast, Lissa Talks Print on Demand. Super excited to share this with you!

    Here's What We're Talking About!

    • Don't Overthink It
    • Shoot By a Window
    • Use Styling Items From Your House
    • Don't Overcomplicate Images
    • Using Sheets as Backdrops

Want To Know This Episode in One Quote? Wonderful!

"When learning product photography, it’s best to start really simple. Use even light, simple backdrops, and don’t use filters that change product colors. Upping the exposure on a photo is fine; moving the tint feature to green might make your customers unhappy. Once you know more, you can do more. But when you start? Keep those photos simple!"

  • Episode 036: What's Mockup Photography?
    May 29 2024

    Episode 036: What's Mockup Photography?

In this week's photography podcast, we're talking about something I freaking love. What's that? Mockup Photography! I discovered mockup photography in 2022 and, two years later, I'm sharing all about it with y'all, too!

Here's a Few of Our Topics!

    What's Mockup Photography?
Creating a Vibe in Your Mockup Photos
Repeating Props + Themes + Models
    Working with Models for Mockups
Building Your Shop Will Take Time!
Should You Sell Photos as Print on Demand Items?

Want To Know This Episode in One Quote? You Know I Got You!

"In 2023, I got totally obsessed with mockup photography. I was obsessed with flatlay mockups, folded mockups, hanging mockups, and model mockups. Basically, I became obsessed with all of it and I like to laugh and say I locked myself away in 2023 and basically just saw my family + my mockup daughter and taught myself to shoot all the products. While I don’t really recommend mockup photography for casual photographers, I do recommend selling mockup photography to two types of photographers: New photographers or photographers that are totally tenacious + up for learning.

Not sure what a mockup is? They’re pretty new to me, too! And today? I’m spilling all about them. "

  • Episode 034: What's the Point of Photography Presets When Exploring Your Photography Editing Style?
    May 21 2024

Episode 034: What's the Point of Photography Presets When Exploring Your Photography Editing Style?

In this week's photography podcast, we're talking about such a fun + creative photography topic: What's the point of photography presets?

Here's a few of our topics!

    • Photography Presets are a Fantastic Starting Off Point
    • Presets are a Great Way to Learn + Mimic
    • The Difference Between YOUR Homemade Preset + Purchased Presets
    • Presets Should Feel Freeing, Not Limiting

Want to Know This Episode in One Quote? I've Got You!

"Often, when we think of photography presets, we think of the pre-bought presets that can be slapped on a photo. And, while that definitely has a time and place - and can be a huge time saver! - creating your own present and editing goals is a totally different ballgame. Remember, there is no one right way to do anything and, the more we learn, the more we can do!"

    --------

    An Exercise For The Week!

Ask Yourself: What's something you love about your current preset / editing style? What's something that makes your editing unique? Focus on that! And once you've ironed out what makes your work unique, ask yourself: What's something that bothers you about your editing? How can you work on that this next month to make it a little stronger?

    May 15 2024

Episode 033: What's the Difference Between Inspiration and Copying in My Photography Business?

In this week's photography podcast, we're talking about such a unique and complex topic: What's the difference between photography inspiration and copying someone else's creative idea?

    Here's what we''ll discuss!

    • Inspiration is Mimicking a Feeling; Copying is Recreating Several Details
    • One Detail is Fine, All Details is Wrong
    • If You are Being Copied, Trust That No One Can Make What YOU Make!
    • How Trends Evolve in Photography
    • Exercise: What Makes Your Work Unique?
    • Talk About What Makes You Unique! Enthusiasm is Key!

Wanna know this episode in one quote? I got you!

    "
When we start photography, it’s easy to see things very cut and dry, particularly when it comes to inspiration. When we are new to creating, it’s really easy to feel like you are the first one to do anything and, because of this, if you see a similar image, you might feel like someone is mimicking you. And while that can definitely be something that happens, there’s also a lot of trends and inspiration within photography.

So! If you are a new photographer worrying about the difference between copying and inspiration - whether you’re the inspiration or looking for inspiration yourself - this podcast is absolutely for you! Cannot wait to share my thoughts on a super complex topic with you!"

Want to work on this topic this week?

Start listing ways your work is unique! It might be hard to come up with the first couple of ways that your work stands out amongst other photographers but, once you get going, you'll have a long list in no time.

    See you next week!
