YouTube Shorts launches the latest update

  • Resumen

  • YouTube creators can insert longer music or audio

YouTube is currently addressing one of the main complaints from creators about recording videos for their TikTok competitor - YouTube Shorts: so far, music and audio added to videos can only be 15 seconds long. , although the Shorts video itself can be up to 60 seconds long. Now, thanks to revised licensing agreements, YouTube says most music on Shorts will be up to 60 seconds long. In addition, creators can "remix" or sample up to 60 seconds of audio from other videos, instead of just 15 seconds as before.

Over the next few weeks, YouTube creators will start seeing expanded options for adding music to their videos when using the audio selector in the YouTube app for iOS and Android. In some cases, songs will only be 30 seconds long due to ongoing licensing restrictions, YouTube notes. The company, like TikTok and others, negotiates with the song's rights holders, including music labels or distributors and publishers, before including the track in YouTube Shorts. While YouTube won't comment on the status of agreements with music industry partners, YouTube says most songs in its audio library will now be up to 60 seconds long.
