  • South Florida storms college football! + Florida vs. LSU preview & Big 12 calls out officials
    Sep 9 2025

The college football season is going into its last week of non-conference games for most teams. Many fans may be looking forward to the excitement a conference schedule brings, but the final week of non-con games is still creating plenty to look forward to. One of those games is #18 South Florida visiting #5 Miami. The new darlings of college football have taken the college football world by storm. They began the season taking down previously ranked Boise State, and then last weekend they upset then 13th-ranked Florida in 'The Swamp.' What is it about coach Alex Golesh's team that is leading to this success, and can they keep it going against yet another highly-ranked opponent? These are some of the questions Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey answer. Plus, is there really a path that both USF and Tulane could make the playoff? One of the guys believes so and gives you the exact scenario it could happen.

Also in the show, the guys discuss another big matchup of the weekend. This one is a conference matchup as Florida visits #3 LSU. Florida's Billy Napier has set himself directly back on the hot seat after last weekend's upset, but the coach that will be across the field this weekend has come to his defense. LSU's Brian Kelly spoke to the media this week and praised Billy Napier. The guys discuss why Kelly decided to make this move. They also talk about the history of these two teams facing each other and what they see from this matchup.

Finally, Andy, Ross and Steven talk about the Big 12 suspending one of their officiating crews after making some egregious mistakes in the Kansas vs. Missouri game last weekend. What do they think about public accountability for refs and the punishment that was handed down? Is this something we could see other conferences do more of to create more transparency? The guys discuss what exactly happened in this situation and how they feel about how the Big 12 handled the situation.

Just a few more days until it's game day again. Until then, join us on the College Football Enquirer.

  • Bryce Underwood's impact on college football, Darian Mensah's journey to Duke & a Week 2 preview
    Sep 4 2025

#15 Michigan travels to Norman, Oklahoma to visit #18 Oklahoma for the only top 25 matchup of the weekend. Michigan's quarterback, Bryce Underwood, made headlines in the offseason when he signed a massive NIL deal to flip his commitment from LSU to Michigan. The multi-year deal was reported to be between $10 - 12 million and left a large impact on the college football landscape. Andy Staples, Ross Dellenger and Steven Godfrey explain the impact this deal had on college football and what effects we are seeing because of it. They also discuss how this deal came to be and compare Michigan to Oklahoma ahead of their matchup. Plus, they chat about the Big 12 taking a different stance than the Big Ten and announcing that they are welcoming Dave Portnoy with open arms to their stadiums and campuses.

Later, a different take on NIL is discussed. Since its inception, NIL has been a huge talking point across collegiate athletics. The media has offered up pros and cons, but much of the conversation has been about the negative impacts of NIL. Ross Dellenger wrote a story exploring the other side of that. He talks about his story on Duke quarterback Darian Mensah. The transfer from Tulane, who grew up with little money in a single-parent household, has changed his family's life after signing an NIL deal this offseason for a reported four million dollars per year. The guys discuss Ross' story and dive into the positive impact NIL can have for student-athletes and their families. Mensah and Duke prepare to host #11 Illinois this weekend.

Finally, the guys preview what games they are looking forward to this weekend. After going 0-for-3 with their picks last week, the guys hope to do better as they make their picks for the weekend. Arkansas St., Kansas and Fresno St. are the focus of the pick 'em segment. Then Andy, Ross and Steven look at some other Week 2 matchups that have caught their eyes.

  • The truth behind Dave Portnoy's Ohio State 'ban' + the new SEC conference game schedule
    Aug 26 2025

It was reported Tuesday night that Ohio State banned Dave Portnoy from their stadium. The Barstool Sports owner is joining Fox's pregame show "Big Noon Kickoff" this season; a show that ends inside the stadium of the game it is previewing, before kickoff. It was assumed, by the public, that Portnoy would be among the pregame crew in the stadium each week. The show for Week 1 is at Ohio State, which would create an issue if part of the pregame crew could not end the show in the stadium. It now appears the report of this ban from Ohio State may not be completely accurate. As our own Ross Dellenger reports, Portnoy not being allowed in the stadium is due to more than just Ohio State having a problem with Portnoy. Ross, Andy Staples and Steven Godfrey explain what is really going on behind the scenes.

Later in the show, the SEC recently announced it will shift its conference schedule to nine games starting in 2026. Among these nine games will be three "annual" games for each school. Andy, Ross and Steven discuss how the conference goes about determining what these "annual" games are, how this will affect the schools and how this shift may affect the SEC.

Finally, we are just a few days away from the start of Week 1 of the college football season! A week that will see a lot of intriguing matchups, including Baylor visiting Auburn on Friday night. Ross recently sat down with Baylor head coach Dave Aranda to discuss the upcoming season. Aranda spoke about what is different with Baylor this year and the changes Baylor has made in NIL. From not playing ball in the NIL space to jumping in with the rest of the country, this switch could prove to make a huge difference in Waco.

We are counting the hours until Week 1 kicks-off. Until then, join us on College Football Enquirer.

    (1:23) - Dave Portnoy's Ohio State ban

(29:47) - The SEC moves to a 9-game conference schedule
