According to Sun Tsu, “the skillful leader subdues the enemy’s troops without fighting.” He also said, “all war is based on deception. When able to attack, we must seem unable”, and “we must make the enemy believe we are far away.” I have read many books on modern Chinese Tactics and even translated “The Science of Military Strategy” as well as “The Science of Campaigns” into English. I came up with this scenario as an example how the People’s Republic of China might bring Taiwan into the fold in keeping with the teachings of Sun Tsu. The Chinese military cannot control the weather, but they don’t have to create bad weather to deny a western navy access to the sea around Taiwan. They only need to make a western navy think the weather is bad. In this book, the PLA comes to Taiwan under the guise of providing disaster relief. Whether the west sees thru the ruse and does not act, or it all happens so fast that no one can help, the result is the same. Once the PLA occupies the island, there is little anyone can do.
